I haven't watched it since I was a kid, but every now and then the theme song pops into my head, and it always makes me happy

The song totally transports me back to the 80s, Friday nights 10pm. Looking back I don't think I got every gag (I was only about 15) but I remember loving Carla.

The wife and I took a New Years trip to Boston for the 2010 Winter Classic at Fenway(best hockey game I've ever seen, even though my Flyers lost), and we spent New Years eve at the Bull & Finch Pub(the bar on which the show was based). Then after the game, we went to the bar that was a replica of show in Faneuil Hall(sp?). Great ciy, great time, great show! Get this on blu-ray ASAP!

Would love to go to Boston and have a beer in the Bull & Finch. I've contacted CBS via their Facebook page a few times to ask if there are any plans to release Cheers on BD. Always falls on deaf ears

I'm a little over fanatical over the show, grew up with it from the age of 7 till it finished when I was 18 so it'll always be quite special to me, even named my little boy Sam after the great Mr Malone

Though I grew up in the '80's, for some reason I never really watched Cheers (other than bits & pieces) until this year. And, can't believe I didn't see it earlier; extremely funny show with great characters & good stories; the writing is fantastic as well.

Which leads me to a question: I'm currently streaming the first season, and the quality is honestly not that great. It looks pretty close to how it appeared like on network TV back in the day, i.e. "soft" PQ. I haven't seen the show on DVD, so was just wondering what the PQ looked like there? I know the show was filmed (and/or edited) on video, and therefore has the "soft" look that a lot of '80's/'90's sitcoms have....

That being said, from the OP on this thread, it looks like the show would be a vast improvement on Blu...

Have seen them all on HD broadcast here in UK, and they looked pretty damned nice, playing in 1.33:1 To watch them any other way just won't cut it for me now.
