I could see WB initially putting it out on DVD to see how much attention it will get, then BD if the sales warrant it. At this point I just don't care, I'd just like them. I'm not getting any younger waiting on a remastered version, much like The Original Star Wars Trilogy.

Cool news and could potentially look great on BD. But even as a Batman fan, I can never make it through Batman: The Movie so I don't know if this show is for me.

About as much as we need the junior mod squad coming in and asking I don't see the harm, since it has only been confirmed that it is getting a DVD treatment

I agree. Let's hope they did get the rights. I'd only be interested in uncut episodes myself. Apparently, there were 14 window cameos. In addition to the two you mentioned, Werner Klemperer appeared in character as Colonel Klink, Bill Dana appeared as Jose Jimenez, and Howard Duff appeared as Sam Stone. Unless I'm forgetting someone, the others just portrayed themselves, so hopefully those weren't as difficult to (re)license, if necessary. That's just my guess though. Here's a video showing all 14:

Blasphemy!

The Movie is like the TV show on steroids! If you don't like The Movie then the TV show is definitely not for you.

Well, I think they have to deal with Sammy Davis jrs estate even if it is just him.

This also has nothing to do with merchandise as someone above mentioned. Hopefully this'll get done.

BTW - that first season is off the hook!

And the appearances by Viacom-owned Lurch and Colonel Klink.
(As WHV already had to remove the Addams from Scooby-Doo.)

Still, one Twit and a no-date confirmation does not a release make.
I'll be glad if and when it's finally out, but looking at it through fresh contemporary eyes, it never did live up to the cool first season.

Fantastic news, this is like the Holy Grail of cult TV shows on disc, but I've been waiting for so long, I'll hold off on my enthusiasm until an actual release date is announced... scratch that, until it's physically in my hands ready to watch.

It's not confirmed that it will be DVD only. USA Today says platforms will be announced in the future. Until then I think there's good reason to start making noise that people want it on Blu-Ray.

WB knows what kind of cash a Blu-ray release will generate. There will be a BD release.

I like the movie well enough, but the TV show is leaps and bounds better IMO.

Exactly, It's been forever waiting on this to hit home media. Hopefully it is true and uncut. DVD set will be great... I think it will hit BD too though. Batman 1966 TV Series on BD.... Holy Sh#t, Batman!

You're likely right. Special guest stars like that probably had strong(expensive) future royalty agreements for reruns just like the regulars, which would necessitate new agreements for home video. Agreed on that first season!

Then that's good news for me! I have a childhood nostalgia for the movie and I finally got the Blu-ray in November and it's still freakin' hilarious! One of the best comedies ever made IMO.
