Where did that come from?

Nothing new mentioned on Criterion's page, and it's listed as 2-discs, so I'm not sure if it's a Dual Format re-release or perhaps just a repackaging of the existing BD.

Probably repackaging. The original digipack was flimsy.

I have no idea why there's a listing for a re-release of The Night of the Hunter in April. The current edition is not Out of Print, even though Amazon says they're "temporarily out of stock", and prices seem to be over MSRP in some places.

You can still get it for $40 (20% off the MSRP of $50) from the shop at criterion.com.

Did anyone notice there is a pre-order for Night of the Hunter DigiPack from Criterion. I have heard of a digibook - not digipack before ? I wonder why its getting re-released

It's being discussed a few posts up. No one knows for sure, but it's just assumed to be a re-packaging. The current packaging is a digipack, so this will possibly be an a plastic case version

If it's a plastic case version, that'd be great. I have the digipak, but Ill sell it and use the money towards this. This pre-order says digipak though.

Those things can also be stipulated by the studios, if I remember correctly, so that could be the reasoning for the specific references.

If so, I wish they'd offer a replacement program for the digipack. I treat my blu-rays like gold and unfortunately, in the three times I've opened it, it is already falling apart. I haven't had that issue with any of the other Criterion digipacks. Of course, unlike everyone else, it seems, I love digipacks and digibooks.
