when you boot it up there is a menu system (xmb) and just set the audio, video, bd/dvd settings for what your using. thats it. you may also need to hook it up via ethernet to update the firmware, depending on what version it is out of the box. there is a way to do it via pc and thumb drive too but ive never done it that way.

Yeah did this for my brothers PS3 - easy as pie. Just setup a folder on the memory stick/thumb drive called PS3 - in upper case and then another a subfolder call UPDATE, again in upper case. Download said update from the Playstation network. NEVER use unauthorised updates.

Slot your mem stick / thumb drive into the mem card slots or usb on the ps3 and select sytem update via storage media. It takes a few seconds and ta-dah!!

I have and it's easy. So you have multiple ways of updating the PS3 - another good reason to buy it.

I am still using the controller as the remote for the PS3. It is okay. However, thinking of the Bluetooth remote but haven't got that yet.

Get it...you won't regret it. Actually you will probably kick your own a** wondering why it took you so long to take the plunge and get one!
