Just heard at TVLine that the studio is not moving forward on this reboot. THANK GOD!

While a reboot could still happen somewhere down the line, they need to do a respectful reboot. Not a reboot just for the sake of doing a reboot and they need to be respectful of the fans of the original series as well as of the original cast.

No, they'll probably just end up rebooting some OTHER fondly-remembered 70's/80's series, to ask "Why don't we watch network TV anymore like we used ta? "

Sadly, that's probably true. But, when is Hollywood going to get the message?

When Hollywood tries to adapt a classic TV series into a Hollywood movie, they always mess it up so bad that the movie itself fails miserably. Take a look at every movie adaption Hollywood has produced from the remains of a classic TV series: the movie has always turned into come kind of comedy film that reflects nothing of the original series (Starsky and Hutch, Dukes of Hazzard, Charlie's Angels, A-Team, 21 Jumpstreet, Bewitched), these are to name just a few and every single one has been a failure.

When Hollywood tries to reboot a classic TV series into a new series, it's absolutely radically different than the original version. Most of the time, the reboot efforts are headed off at the pass by either the original cast condemning the network for trying to reboot the series or the fans heading the networks off at the pass as well (Six Million Dollar Man).

Hollywood needs to worry about creating new original content, not simply digging through their archives trying to figure which classic series to reboot. If they do reboot, stay true to the original version but update it. Don't take a series like Murder She Wrote and reboot it as some urban TV series.

Hollywood has simply ran out of ideas and if they kept the network execs in the boardrooms and prevented them from interfering with the production of the TV shows being produced under their networks wing, then TV shows wouldn't end up getting canceled because execs seem to think they know more about a TV series than the person who created it.

I agree with everything you said. I have yet to even see the A-Team because I was put off by the over top stunts they showed during the trailers and don't get me started on the Dukes. I actually thought the supposed prequel film The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning while still bad was a much more enjoyable film and somewhat closer to the original show than the theatrical film starring Johnny Knoxville & Sean William Scott.

The one show that has made it and that was probably because they tried to tie it albeit loosely to the original show and that is the CBS remake of Hawaii Five-0. Which is a show that I really like.
