I know its a 'Universal' rating so its a kids movie, and I know he would keep the glasses on. There has been this thing that some companies such as Nintendo stated that children under 6 should not watch 3D as their eyes are still under development but I've also read that there is no scientific evidence to suggest that children viewing 3D will cause any harm. it is said that Nintendo have said such a statement to avoid any potential lawsuit. After all, their 3DS handheld machine has a mode to play games in 3D without glasses, which I think is dodgy!!

The 3D in Walking With Dinosaurs 3D was mild a lot of times, with a few really nice pop outs. But as suggested above, the challenge would be convincing him to keep the sunglasses on as the 3D wasn't much to write home about despite a number of nice medium 3D shots.

At the very end of the film before the credits roll, there is a nice pop out in Walking with Dinosaurs 3D.

A lot of it is about developing the eye muscles and making sure you sit at a comfortable distance. If it hurts, sit farther back until it doesn't, then eventually when you've rested and recouped your eyeballs, they'll be stronger for next time.

^ the beginning and the end have pertinent dialogue - other than that the dino dialogue is god-awful and not worth reading in subtitle form.

unfortunately there are two instances in the movie where it suggests that with the added dialogue, the film's editing was changed as well:

- repeating the fact that the gorgosaurus had small arms.. small arms? ... yes, small arms

- the 'repeat' fall into the river by Patchi

Good observations. The small arms dialog from the bird dino was mildly comical, and made me wonder if the movie intentionally made the dialog as part of the original plan. As you mentioned based on the editing there bending to the dialog rather than the dialog being a non stop commentator to the imagery.

The 2013 CG animated film “Walking with Dinosaurs” is coming to both Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray Disc on March 25th, 2014 via 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment — according to an early alert to retailers. The film features the voice talents of Charlie Rowe, Karl Urban, Angourie Rice, John Leguizamo, Justin Long, Skyler Stone and Tiya Sircar. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD and UltraViolet digital copy of the film included. The Blu-ray 3D version will also include a Blu-ray Disc (2D) version of the film. Both versions of the title is available for pre-order over at Amazon with the Blu-ray 3D carrying a $34.99 price tag and the Blu-ray carrying a $27.99 price tag. Tech specs and bonus materials for the releases have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update. Below after the break you’ll find the trailer for the film.

That's good to hear it'll be in 3D too. The 3D was good, but they should have amped it up to IMax 3D levels. This was a bit more mild to medium 3D, with a couple strong 3D shots here and there.

Walking with Dinosaurs Looks like there may possibly be a version without the dialogue. I wonder what the Cretaceous Cut is. Says "natural" version. This is only on the 3D set, so hope it is in 3D and not just 2D. If that is the case then I will probably buy this now.

oh I thought the original cut was just sound effect's/music, no narration at all (or am I wrong?)

That would be nice if the 3D disc has that option so we can hear the movie the way it was originally imagined before the voice overs. The only thing is, often enough they'll put all of the special feature versions on the 2D discs and just keep the 3D disc as it was in theaters.

All it is is a different audio track on the 3D disc set, so yes, it will be in 3D. It will probably switch out a video file to remove the Voice actor hard-coded credits as well.
