Oddly though, if they want to retain the rights and NOT reboot it again---why not at least make the casting really solid.? Then if the movie is so-so, but the cast is praised, they could at least get a better director and move forward.

If the cast is as bad as the rumors indicate and the movie is average or less AGAIN---then it's reboot AGAIN or finally let it revert.

Exactly! Having a mediocre movie -- especially one that is not part of a major series, like the Avengers films -- is not going to cut it with all the other superhero movies being made today.

At this point, it almost seems like the Fantastic Four property is sort of in the same position it was in all those years ago when Roger Corman had the rights and he rushed to make a shitty movie in an attempt to retain those rights. I don't think it would be worth it for Fox to do the same thing.

Emmy Rossum, Kate Mara and Miles Teller Doing ‘Fantastic Four’ Screen Tests; Doctor Doom Could Be Female

There’s been lots of talk this week about the behind the scenes happenings with Josh Trank‘s Fantastic Four. What’s the movie about? Who is starring? It seems we might find out sooner rather than later.

A new report says Michael B. Jordan is officially attached as Johnny Storm but the other three roles are all still testing. Emmy Rossum and Kara Mara are screen testing this week for the role of Sue Storm and Miles Teller is still testing for Reed Richards. As for Ben Grimm, Josh Gad isn’t mentioned but Christian Cook (Cemetery Junction, Magic City) has tested.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of these tests. According to their write up, while there are a lot of tests happening this week, “this is not the end of the casting process and more may be read in the coming days and weeks.” They also dismiss earlier reports Saoirse Ronan, Elizabeth Olsen and Kit Harington tested. None could make the film because of scheduling.

But as Trank casts the four leads, there must be a villain too, right? That someone, reportedly and predictably, is Doctor Doom and they’re hoping for a big name. A nice twist, though, is THR says Trank is open to casting a female in the role if they can get the right person.

So when will we officially hear the cast for this fast approaching June 2015 release? No one knows for sure. But it seems likely to be well before San Diego Comic-Con, one popular theory among fans.

That's not a nice twist that is a ****ing horrible twist. What the **** is Fox and Trank thinking? Could Fox just be putting this information out to piss off Marvel so they will buy the rights back regardless of cost? I mean, these decisions could ruin this franchise for a long time. I hate Fox. I wish Disney would just give them a blank check, take X-Men and FF back, and tell Fox to go **** themselves.

Ok so Johnny Storm is black, Dr. Doom is a woman and let's see, The Thing can be gay, Reed Richards can be a hermaphrodite and Sue Richards can be a transvestite. Sounds great. Call it Fantastic 4: The Battle for Political Correctness.
Is it because they think that the Fantastic 4 are a less popular group that they can do what they please with them? I'd be enraged if I were Stan Lee.
On the other hand, the first 2 movies are looking better and better in light of all this bad news.

This will never happen, but this movie just needs to be scraped already. It seems obvious to me that they have no clue what direction they want to go with this film. Every bit of news that comes out about this film is more cringe-worthy than the last. Fox should of just let the rights go back to Marvel where they belong. They don't care about this film. The only reason this movie is being made is so that Fox can hold onto the rights!

Eh. Stan Lee has already said in the past he wished he had diversified the characters more.

And certainly doesn't have issues with comic books that do things different than he did back in the day.

In fact, given he did What If type stories if Stan Lee had created the DC Characters... he's done it too.

So if he was enraged he'd be a massive hypocrite of epic proportions.

No one cares about what he wished he would had did. They only care about what did happen and what they grew up with. There is no reason for this movie to be made because it would be a slap in the face to everyone who grew up with these characters. Don't try and defend it.

Anyone who considers a movie a slap in the face is taking things way too seriously.

Movies will always change things. New takes on the comics will always change things.

It comes a point where you either accept that it's going to happen. Or just don't see it.

Yep.

Seeing people cry about Dr. Doom possibly being female or The Torch being black (seriously, only a racist would complain about that) just shows how they are adamantly against anything that conflicts with their favorite version of the characters in the comic books and not open for change.
