Is Universal in the UK, but Paramount in the US I believe.
All titles where Universal are global rights holder are region free on BD. The issue is with titles where Universal UK have local rights for the UK only and overseas rights are with other companies as in this case.
When that occurs Universal UK have been known to RB lock the titles as in the case with Good Vibrations last year.

So any confirmation if this will be the extended 4hr cut? That would be a big selling point for me.

as of now I have only been able to locate rumors on the AVforums:

I have not came across anything official yet. I would like the extended version as well

I think it's the same rumour that's getting bounced around everywhere - it's been on here (with at least a source) and on the US thread and has supposedly been denied - which, sadly, sounds right as Scorsese isn't one for director's cuts.

Be nice if it was but I think anyone expecting it is setting themselves up for a disappointment.

Thanks! It is bad news for me.
But I have a case such as the Gladiator that distribute by Warner in US but Universal in UK and this BD is a region free everywhere.

I think with Gladiator the rights were Dreamworks (Paramount) in US and Universal in Europe and elsewhere hence I guess why Universal made their BD region free.

With my example of Good Vibrations then Universal UK had rights in UK, but other companies held rights in Europe and elsewhere and I guess they were therefore contractually required to RB lock it.

Wolf of Wall Street is complex as much of Europe including UK is Universal, but rest of Europe is small local distributors, US & Japan are Paramount but Hong Kong is Disney (all from imdb), so I guess it depends if Universal have any rights outside Europe and Australasia which means they would want a region free rather than RB locked disk.

I wasn't going to preorder this because its labeled with the Universal logo and thats not the official production company here in the US (yes I'm picky on that) but its such a classy looking steelbook that I couldn't resist. So preordered!
