TT is expensive - I actually do prefer to support them, since they release movies like "All the King's Men". As Blu-Velvet has pointed out this won an AA for Best Picture at time when there were a heck of a lot of great films, yet this is the first time it is available on Blu-ray for the U.S. market.

Another film..."Love is A Many Splendored Thing" would not be available on B-r if it were not for this catalog company.

BTW, I think the poster who wrote about that new TT Clint Eastwood release sold about 10-15 for them with that post alone!

Maybe not right now, or not this year, but it would be available at some point on blu-ray. And that is a statement as unproveable as "this title would not be available on blu-ray if not for TT". Except that LIAMST is a Fox title, and unlike Sony, Fox is releasing catalog themselves. The Inn of the Sixth Happiness might just as likely have been given to TT, but it was not. It seems Fox gives away some and keeps others and the only difference is the ones TT gets are forced into an artificially created collector's market limited to 3000 for three years.

I support TT, and I have almost every blu-ray release they have put out, but this repeated refrain of "no one would release this or that title if not for TT" has become something of a mantra. One thing I have noticed is that Fox, and to some extent Sony, seem to give TT certain releases that have a common element - Jennifer Jones for example, or director John Guillerman. This is why I was not surprised to see Fox hand over to TT The Blue Max and LIAMST.

I had already purchased before it was posted but what that person wrote made me feel really good about my blind purchase.

I'm think I'm getting it, too. I meant it in a nice way.

Oil Dude -> you are right, TT is not limited to "cellar dweller" titles that Sony or Fiox has put to eternal rest. What I should have said is that I am grateful TT has selected certain films to bring to Blu-ray.

The 20th Century Classics releases are fantastic in so many ways - But I do prefer a limited release of some titles, but that is the "collector" in me.

Does anyone else hate the fact that the spines of all TT releases have the exact same generic font with the exact same white on black colors?

I suppose that some might think it's nice because when a lot of TT titles are next to each other it looks harmonic, but so do Criterion's and they don't look like they were part of a "design the most boring and generic spine imaginable" contest.

I like TT as a label though. I am willing to pay $30 if I like a movie they release, but the designs could look a little more classy for that money.

This has to be a contender:

Michael Douglas was clearly very pleased to be working with Kathleen Turner...

I always thought the same... I have so many TT titles lined up on a shelf now that as much as I would like to see different fonts now I just think it would make my TT collection look odd lol. I do agree. I think maybe they were looking for a uniform style for the spines.

I think it's also meant to echo TT co-founder Brian Jamieson's work on Stanley Kubrick's home-video releases.

Nope.

Movies are important.

Fonts on the spine are meaningless.

Thank you for your opinon. Some people make a living in the art/design field and would find it worthwhile.

I find the spines incredibly boring too. I would rather have the creative title font used, even if they're all on black or something. Anything is better than bold white text on a black background.

My order for Royal Flash (NOT the autographed copy) Love is a Many Splendored Thing, and Sleepless in Seattle are delivering today! I fogured Sleepless In Seattle would be a good Valentine Day film for Friday nite. (also still trying to get caught on on releases lol

I also have my pending order of new releases but I think TT may still be waiting for Blue Max stock to come in. I ordered Blue Max, The Front, Crimes and Mis., and Thund. & Light. I will probably order the Eddie Duchin Story on my next order.

Seems so, because my order with The Blue Max and Crimes and Misdemeanors is still awaiting shipment, and some people already have copies of the latter in hand, so...

Good to hear, I was wondering if something had gone wrong with my order. I have the Crimes, Front, Blue Max, and T&L order pending as well.

Love your avatar, Hertz.

Anyone else get their Malcolm McDowell-signed Royal Flash? Not a big deal, but he signed mine on the back of the booklet.

Well, it works with a set like this, but TT have released what, around 50 movies now. And they all have the exact same generic spine? Plus the ones they will release in the future.
