I think he's just trying to beat Blade Runner for most versions of a film on DVD/BD.

That's four if you include the work print, right?

Five:
1. Workprint
2. US Theatrical Cut
3. International Cut
4. Director's Cut
5. Final Cut.

Vangelis is like the x factor in how many reincarnations a movie will have.

The International Cut is not the same as the Director's Cut?

It has added violence that was cut for the R-rating, it's my favorite version of the movie.

1. Tyrell's eye gouging is extended.

2. Pris is shot more times and they show her breaking Deckard's nose.

3. They show more of Batty removing a spike from his hand.

This was Oliver Stone's doing. I don't see anything wrong about it. It's better to be available for those that want it, than not being available at all.

When people stop buying it and it stops making money.

International cut has more gore compared to the Theatrical Cut which basically makes the Theatrical Cut redundant to me.

Directors Cut is a different thing altogether - and its not really a Directors cut at all - the Final Cut is though. Final Cut makes the Directors cut redundant for me.

Terrible compared to 300?

I like both but rate them about the same for different reasons. At least Alexander doesn't have demons and orcs!

Blade runner has 4 cuts and a workprint. Now this will also have 4 cuts, so a workprint is still needed.

And they could try to brake Blade Runner's record. I wonder how would they name that cut. Obviously US cut or International cut wont work cause that would be a lie. Maybe they could release the new cut theatrically in China , and call it the Chinese cut.

Looking forward to this showing up at Costco for 20 bucks about two weeks after its release, kinda like what happened with the Argo Extended Edition release.

Blade Runner has 6 different versions. 7 if you count the broadcast cut. 8 if you count the early 4 hour cut Scott made (which has never been made public)
  1. Workprint
  2. Theatrical
  3. Theatrical San Diego '82 preview (included a few extra scenes that were never shown again)
  4. International
  5. Director's
  6. The Final Cut

I don't think any from the San Diego cut have been seen since.

Here's a break-down of what was included (source)

Quote:
A San Diego Sneak Preview shown only once in May 1982.[4] This version is nearly identical to the 1982 US theatrical version, except that it included three additional scenes not shown before or since, including the Final Cut version (2007).[5] These scenes are not on any Blu-ray, DVD, VHS, or Laserdisc version available.
  • The full body introduction of Roy Batty inside a "VidPhon" booth.
  • Deckard attempting to reload his weapon after Batty has broken Deckard's fingers.
  • A complete high-angled shot of Deckard and Rachael driving off into a clear clean mountainous area with real trees, also known as "the happy ending" (using leftover aerial footage from Stanley Kubrick's The Shining). This scene was tacked on by executives at Paramount after the first test audiences reported poorly about the ambiguity of the original ending, and was shot weeks after the original shooting had been completed. Actors Ford and Young had to reprise their roles, but only a partial segment of it was ever used in the subsequent US theatrical release
.

I thought Troy and 300 were fun and not to be taken seriously. Alexander really takes itself seriously, stopping at regular intervals for a history lesson (which it still gets wrong in some details) when what I want is a portrait of an astounding man with lots of action scenes. Apart from Stone not knowing what he wanted as evinced by the numerous versions the big problem for me is Farrell, I like him, he's a great actor especially in character parts but it needed someone larger than life, like George C Scott in Patton. There's no chemistry between him and Jared Leto, the blonde wig doesn't help and Angelina Jolie as his mum when she's about a year older than him?

Executives at Paramount? Should that be Warner/Ladd?

I really like Alexander's tone and its quirks/problems, if it was like 300 I think it would be much less interesting.
