Thought I would pop up a little quiz this way, for people who are still on the fence with next gen like me, more specifically with the PS4.
In my case, as it would replace a PS3 which is the center of my home theater and my main BR player, the universal remote thing is pretty much condition #1, along with some exclusives I have been looking forward to (Second Son, Driveclub, Rime...). |

For me:
I still have a ton to play on the PS3 The PS4 has little I need to play If the PS4 supported PS3 games it would be an easier decision, but since I'm still perfectly happy with the PS3, and I have a huge backlog, I'm in no rush to upgrade. I haven't really been blown away by anything I've seen on the PS4 yet to be honest. I'm sure that'll change once I see a new Uncharted game on there or something, but for now, I can wait. |

I have one but with my friends that have PS3s that haven't gotten a PS4 yet, they usually say they're waiting for a specific game or waiting for more PS4 games to be available in general.
I still have a pretty big PS3 backlog to complete but I was definitely ready for something new so I was happy to be an early adopter. |

I already have 1 but I figured a price drop is not going to happen anytime soon and Infamous:SS comes out next month (1 of the games I am waiting for, the other game I am waiting for is Kingdom Hearts 3).
I was actually thinking of not getting a PS4 until Infamous comes out..but; 1. If the PS4 still remains sold out next month then at least I have no worries to be looking out for stock. 2. Price I paid at launch is still price I'll pay next month, only difference is I already got to play it. 3. I doubt that any hardware revisions will be made to the PS4 anytime soon. Meaning a launch PS4 and a PS4 next month will still be a 1st gen (early adopter/beta) release. 4. Gamble on the rumors that Sony may release a PS4/Infamous bundle. The way the PS4 is selling now, I doubt any kind of bundles will come out anytime soon. |

I was originally planning to wait, primarily for inFamous: Second Son to come out, but also to make sure Sony will get all the bugs out of the system.
But, since Gamestop had one sole console left for sale, I decided to jump on it while I could. Not sure if it was a totally wise choice, given some of the errors that have been reported, but at least I'll be ready for all the new releases. |

In no particular order, i'm waiting for:
Driveclub: when the hell is this game coming out? 3D BD support; the PS3 has had it for years so we get improved DVD playback in the last update? And the ability to play MP3's and CD's would be nice, Sony! |

What are you talking about? I have one right here!
Got my PS4 via Amazon on release day! Sad, I don't play it much! Waiting on Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Infamous: Second Son! (Only 2 games that have a release date, that I want, at this time) |

Well, at least game-wise, I'm waiting for Infamous: Second Son, Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III, The Order: 1886, Mirror's Edge 2, Star Wars: Battlefront, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Beyond Good & Evil 2. Problem is how I'm going to get the money for a PS4 and all of these. XD

I'm certainly not waiting. I'm currently enjoying the hell out of Outlast and looking forward to Thief and Infamous. I'm also starting to get into Blacklight: Retribution. For a freebie, it's not bad at all. Long term of course I'm looking forward to The Order 1886, Drive Club, The Witcher 3, and Destiny.

I'd have to
A) finish several full games I have for my ps3 B) the ps3 could perhaps break And,... Ps4 would need to put in the cd playback, even if I never use it. Leaving it out is simple greed. Worlds first blu ray player that can't play a cd. It would also be nice if they turned off the flashlight controller thing since I use a front projector. However, I think my gaming sort of competes with my movie interest so when my ps3 eventually breaks I don't think I will get a ps4 or other new system. That said,... I'm loving last of us for now. ![]() |

I answered the two that applied to me, one wasn't listed.
More games is the biggest item listed, followed by a price drop which isn't. DLNA & MP3 support I ticked off, but only because I care about it but that isn't a driving factor. Between the games I have, the games I can buy, and the new 'free' games I get from PS+ every 35 days or so there is positively NO motivation for me to upgrade either my PS3 or 360. Especially when the graphical jump between the PS4 and PS360 aren't that dramtic yet IMHO. There are a few people who mention the same thing about backwards compatibility to help shift from current to next gen, but since Sony & MS don't seem to see the importance of backwards compatibility and continue to produce almost all of the games for past & current gen consoles they strip out the desire for people like me to buy a new console. My cabinet is already full, I'm in no hurry to add 1 or 2 more devices to it without removing something else. I want stuff out of it, not in. |

When the PS3 first came out, people were complaining how expensive it was but were later more than happy to embrace a cheaper model that did not have backwards compatibility. As far as backwards compatibility goes, I believe only the PS2 was truly backwards compatible (not including current and recent nintendo consoles). Video game consoles before the PS2 did not have backwards compatibility. I completely understand the argument of physical space though. My TV only has 4 HDMI inputs and all are now in use. But then again I didn't buy a PS4 to play PS3 games. From the business point of view though, it makes perfect sense. There will be more people who will buy the PS4 at a lower price than there are people willing to pay more for BC. And for people who don't want to upgrade right now, for that reason, just means that they are not yet done with the PS3 and will continue to support it's revenue. 10 year plan! lol ![]() |
