I don't think they will have a presence in an Avengers film until 3.

I'm still not completely sold on this. I see a raccoon, a tree, a Star Trek green alien girl and a few others in a comedic sci-fi movie.

In the trailer, the guy has a Walkman that plays "Hooked on a Feeling". Seriously? Is that supposed to be funny?

I suppose it might be good if it's played campy and not seriously.

Sorry, it's not inspiring enough for a theater visit.

Just saying to the vast majority here who think it might be the best Marvel movie to date that it will probably suck and not do well at the box office.

I hope this does well because in an age of endless sequels and reboots, here we finally have an untested cinematic property. Marvel could have easily stuck to safer fare but they're taking a risk and I applaud them for that.

Doesn't look too bad. I have faith this will be good. Marvel selected James Gunn based on Whedon's recommendation. That is a positive sign for me.

They have actually officially ditched the cockney/aussie hybrid accent.

His new Marvel Approved voice is similar to what was heard on the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

That trailer was a failure from beginning to end. Who the hell decided to make this a comedy? The appeal should have been a group of exotic, outrageous characters in a serious context.

Oh, I get it. With a character named "Star-Lord" and a talking raccoon, they probably thought they couldn't sell it any other way. This is pathetic and an insult to the series.

Especially since we'll be getting a GotG 2 before Avengers 3 from what Marvel Studios has said.

Have you actually watched the other Marvel Cinematic Universe films?

They full embrace the absurdity and the fun of the characters.

A bit of fun and humor is what comic book films should be delivering.

Not the whole dark super serious emo stuff that DC/WB has been shoveling.

Of course it won't be all comedy, it's a risky new property for Marvel so they need to try and get the general audience on board. One way to do that is by using comedy. I think the trailer was effective in that capacity.

For some reason I wish ROCKET had a Joe Pesci type of voice.

Firefly? Really? I'm getting more of a Galaxy Quest vibe, just as I thought I would. Firefly had smarter humor.

A bit harsh, but I'm feeling what you're saying. I'm not a huge Guardians of the Galaxy fan, but I'm familiar enough with them that I had hope for this movie. Just doesn't seem like my thing, but as long as my son enjoys it, I guess there's that.

This movie is pretty much for the set up of Thanos debut. Drax has some issue with Thanos.

The trailer was fun but a little too heavy with the comedy for me. I'll still check this out. Rocket Racoon is a bad ass.

Yes, really. The 'outlaws in space' angle and western/sci-fi genre influences are especially reminiscent of Firefly. With regards to the humour, I'm guessing they're using the broader stuff for the trailer, so for all we know it could be smarter in the film as a whole.

P.S.: I can't stand Galaxy Quest.
