Point. But at the same time, 9 times out of 10 the fans ***** about the story arcs when they are used (See: The Phoenix Saga). Comics fans are a fickle bunch altogether I guess.

Good point.

However, there's a HUGE difference between using a story arc that is good and then using a story arc that is utter shite.

If they had done the Phoenix arc correctly it would have taken at least 2 more movies before the "Oh shit, Jean's evil" climax.

I mean the only reason that Cyclops was 'killed' {they always seem to get better} in the 3rd one was because James Marsters is a wank that wanted to get paddled on the bum by the director of Superman Returns {who I refuse to mention from here on out as he is dead to me}

If they had done it RIGHT with a few changes then comic fans would agree with it, the introduction of Wolverine wasn't the same as in the comics but comic fans {generally} got on board because it was done well and showed Wolvie as a badass.

Turning Wolverine into a sniveling shiteater in the 3rd is another bad point for the existence of the 3rd movie.

Haha. At least your not bitter. I did think it was funny Marsters got more screen time in SR then X2 & 3 combined. Whoever had the idea to use Cable (Days of Future Past, perhaps) to "erase" the third movie had a good idea, although I'm one of the few that liked X3 ok.

X3 was alright, if you ignore the first 2 and everything that has anything to do with the X-men from the 35 years previous in the comics.

Other than the entire backstory of the Marvel Universe, yeah, I guess X3 was an alright movie. *LOL*

HAHA. I'm almost sorry I said anything. Of course, I also kind of liked Daredevil (director's cut) and didn't hate Ang Lee's Hulk. The only one I didn't care as much for was the first Fantastic Four...too little action or anything comic book-y. Iron Man could have used some more in-armor action scenes (at least one), but liked it quite a bit.

I liked Daredevil, they did that quite well {except that Bullseye doesn't look nearly as stupid in a unitard as having a bullseye carved into his head}

Ang Lee's Hulk was an interesting pile of rubbish, but like the meat dress { http://www.snopes.com/politics/arts/meatdress.asp } I doubt that it's art.

Fantastic Four was alright, never really cared for the comic, always seemed {and yes I'm a geek} too Star Trek Voyager to me, you've got a problem? Let's throw nano probes at it that'll fix ANYTHING... Reed Richards always has a solution for everything because he's a genius, wow, didn't see THAT one coming.

What...the hell? Never seen that one before. Very true about Bullseye...don't think he was ever that angry, either. That was a little forced, I thought.
That's what makes Richards "Fantastic".
I think everyone else has gone to bed...or seriously lost interest. haha.

So much to type.

Using existing story arcs is not a bad thing most of the time. For the general movie going public, they will not have any idea that the story already existed in comics and will not care. The problem lies in the comic fans that want something new but do not want their stories or characters butchered. The studios may think they they have to make some changes because the fan base will already know the story. While I think the fan base may just want to see the stories done proper justice. Plus it probably also boils down to time. To fit a story arc from a comic in a 90-120 min time frame may seem to be to hard, and they do not want to risk spreading it out over two or more films.

As for X3. There was a lot wrong with that film. It could have been better if they just left out the whole Jean/Phoenix part of the film. I do not like what they felt they had to do to get her into the film and make her fit. I was looking forward to seeing the Phoenix as I am a Phoenix fan. There were were many other things that were wrong with the film that just made it hard for me to watch. I wonder why they felt the need to throw in power levels with no explanation, and it was probably a concept that was lost to most that did not read or know of the comics and the different levels of mutants. I personally liked X2 the best out of this trilogy, but friends of mine that did not read comics still enjoyed X3 and may have liked that one the best.

I do enjoy most comic book movies and I did not have a problem with Daredevil either. Both cuts are fine but the directors is the better of the two. Hulk is not bad if I can fast forward to the Hulk parts. That movie is just too slow paced for my liking. I dont remember enough of Elektra to say anything, that should speak enough for that movie. And the last Blade was bad too. I am tired of sequels trying to out do the previous films and come up with "bigger" or more enemies for the heroes to fight. Keeping it simple works well enough.

Default Punisher War Zone

You guys need to go to the Punisher: War Zone message board over on IMDB. Check out the thread "Punisher War Zone FAQs for Newcomers" by Norse Sage. All the facts on the history of this film are accounted there, and very intelligently.

This film is going to rock! It's not a bad thing that Jane is gone. And this new film has nothing to do with any previous attempts to realise Frank Castle/The Punisher.

See you there!
