I'm a bit OCD. The first Thor was a Blu-ray and DVD combo pack and the second wasn't and it was bugging me. I just like having both options at my disposal. As for me buying the DVD, I had a $10 My Best Buy coupon and price matched it to Wal-Mart's price. I got it dirt cheap.

I was extremely upset yesterday when I went to Best Buy and there were no steelbook copies at all. The only reason I went there was for that because their movie selection sucks now. I am just going to order on line from now on I think. Best Buy is dead to me.

Has anyone by chance redeemed the walmart Special Feature for VUDU?

How long is it? Sorry if this has been asked/answered already I couldn't see that it had been yet.

Join the club. My OCD got the better of me with that too. I just don't like having 3 slots in there with only 2 copies, but oh well

Went looking for the steelbook at Best Buy and sure enough it was nowhere to be found. I'm not camping out outside the store to get this stuff. I also don't want the regular edition since I'm not a huge fan of the character (the film itself was enjoyable enough I thought). Does anyone know if BB restocks their exclusives after they sell out?

I was actually set on getting the single disc 2D release because I love that poster (even if they didn't stay true to it with the cover art by removing a lot of characters and saturating the colors more) and sexy Natalie on the cover yummm! But anyway, once I got to Best Buy, the slipless 2D BD looked unappealing in comparison to the bright, gorgeous, shiny 3D/2D Combo BD, and I knew I would regret it if I passed on it and stuck with the 2D version, so even though I didn't really care about the 3D, that is the version I picked up. Too preeeeetty. And now I own my first Marvel movie in 3D. I have the option and it only cost a few bucks more, even if the 3D itself isn't that great.

Maybe I'll grab a decent sized poster to throw up on my wall instead. If they had used that as the cover with a nice slipcover (and kept the blue-green wash) I would've been all over it.

Its too late for you now but for future reference just order it online. Thats what I did yesterday and my store had it reserved for me by the time I picked it up at 8pm

Went with the $18.96 version at Wal-Mart as a blind buy since I liked the first one. I didn't see a point paying $4 more for a 3D disc when the entire film was shot in 2D to begin with.

On a related note, has anyone viewed the Loki featurette on Vudu? Is it worth it? Since Target failed me I'm thinking about going to Walmart to pick it up for that feature, and then redeeming the digital copy (since its separate) on Amazon for their exclusive featurette.
My target in Washington didn't have any either and neither did any of the others close to me. I asked an employee and he said they didn't get their shipment on the truck and they should be there by Friday. I am starting to think they won't be getting them at all though.

So they don't restock - thanks. I'll reserve a copy next time. Thanks again

It's really a case by case, title by title thing.

The Jaws and E.T. digibooks. Jaws sold out super fast, but a few weeks later more books appeared all across the US. E.T. never even sold out from my store, but they kept getting more and more in. Plus you can still get an Amazing Spiderman steelbook here, over a year later!

Other exclusives like their Resident Evil: Retribution steelbook came in very limited, sold out in hours, and never were seen again (except on ebay and amazon). Sorry to say, this feels more like the Resident Evil promo, but there is some small level of hope still as some have come back.

Grabbed Target's version and the BB steel. I've never purchased multiple editions of a film on release date. You're so cruel Disney/Marvel

Get off of work yesterday and head straight to Target and of course the Blu-ray is all sold out. Wondering if I should check today or wait a few days. I'm not sure how fast Target restocks new releases, especially if they sell big.

Target doesn't do much of anything with movies very well. They've done better with their last few exclusive steelbooks like Ender's Game, Elysium, and Django Unchained, but on the whole they still stink.

I think I'll check it out again today. Not too far from my house so it won't be a hassle. I normally pre-order movies online but I have that Target Red card that gives me discounts so I tend to buy movies that won't be a limited release or generally hard to find in actual stores, like Scream Factory films.

This is good set.

The movie is good but not great.
The extras are alright.
- One Shot-Mandarin/Ten Rings......Marvel's attempt to clear up the backlash.
- Deleted Scenes - forgetable
- Thor & Loki - forgetable
- Scoring Thor - havent watched yet
- Winter Soldier - The Trailer w/ a little bit more footage+comments...meh......this will most likely be featured on the Cap disc special features in its full form.

PQ & Audio is great.
Better action than the first one. Espcecially the Thor One on One battles....
- Kurse & maleka..whatever fights > Destroyer/Loki fights
Better acting than the first one...or just fleshed out writing.
And the conscious attempt to show Asgard is important to Thor and the Marvel U.
Quiet MVP - scene stealer......Rene Russo as Frigga. I liked her screen time alot.

Rewatchability - questionable.

I have to disagree with this. The Thor/Loki fight wasn't outstanding but it was still entertaining.

Thor vs Kurse was pathetic. Kurse knocks Mjolnir away, punches Thor in the face a few times and throws a large rock...then is killed by Loki...not Thor. The dramatic connection between Thor and Loki made their fight in the first film more engaging.

Thor vs Malekith was just them rolling around the majority of the time. Wasted opportunity right there.

I really enjoyed the whole thing for the most part. My only complaint is Natalie Portman. I love her as an actress, but in this movie her Jane Foster portrayal gets a little on my nerves at times. A couple of times I wanted to say "can't you shut up already".

I'm debating if I should keep the steelbook. Honestly, I think I might like the standard cover best of all:

Aside from when Silver Linings Playbook (briefly) didn't come with one, I don't recall this ever happening on a mainstream, top-of-the-line BD release in my several years of collecting blu's.

I'm far from the obsessive slip junkie that some folks 'round here are (no offense), but I certainly try to get slips whenever possible, to the point that the few BDs I have that are missing (formerly available) slips rather annoy the crap out of me. I hadn't really given much thought to the Target exclusive Loki version, but I can clearly see now why it was sold out at all 3 Targets I went to tonight.

I realize Disney's been doing some strange things with their slips and BD releases lately (no traditional blue cover for Jungle Book, Lone Ranger, Planes), but was there an official explanation given anywhere as to why Thor 2 is currently slipless, and if a cover may be forthcoming later on down the line? Just curious...
I really like my slipcovers too, so that's why when I heard the 2D wasn't going to have one and the fact I really didn't like the 2D cover I decided to get the 3D version. It's only 3 dollars more and it has a much better cover. From what I have seen some movies put out a Blu-ray release with just one disc and no slip like X-Men First Class did. I think they're only going to put slipcovers on the "deluxe" edition which since they took the DVD and digital copy out of the 2D, is now what they consider the 3D version. Again it was only a few dollars more so that's the one I got.
