Ahh, gotcha. Haven't seen that film in many, many years.

At least I didn't miss a "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor" reference. I got somebody with one of those a few weeks ago. I was told I was dumb. Then he felt dumb for missing it.

I knew that sounded familiar.... is it sad that I've never actually seen that movie? I've caught a few seconds of it here and there, but that's it. Always seemed kind of creepy to me.

I've owned Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray. It was one of the first Blu-rays that I purchased after making the format jump.

I revisit this movie at least a couple of times a year.

Now, my first order was 586xxx at 12:02. Second order this morning was order number a high 639xxx, at 8:46am. Neither has shipped.

So 53,000 orders or more, if it is sequentially. And they stiill had 3+ hours to go. Pretty nice day for Criterion if you ask me...
Sooo we've got about a 1 in 2650 chance of getting one of those golden tickets.

Ditto, and it's one of the few that my fiancee and I both know all the words too. Last year we went to a screening of it at the Alamo Drafthouse in Dallas where Julie Dawn Cole and Paris Themmen were present for a talk/Q&A.

my mom bought a copy for my son so that I watch with him when he gets a bit older.. I have never really been a fan of the movie. it doesn't exactly creep me out, but I find it rather cold and not as warm as a song like "Pure Imagination" would want you to believe. Check out the Smoking Popes version of that song though!

Okay, I have a question on an artwork thing here...

Why do these two Malle films have similar designs, one with an X and one with an O? None of the other Malle films have this and these two movies were released separately and not in a box set. Are they tied to one another somehow? Any clues?

They are sequential in spine numbers though (#429 and 430), so that might be it.

I'll pass... the trailers for that one creeped me out. The creepy smile was really what did it.

And the Downey set looks really cool. I've looked at it a few times, but figured now was the right time to buy it. For $20 it's worth the blind buy. And if I really don't like it, I figure I can put it up for trade over in that forum. I think I may watch it first and post after. Let me know what you think once you get yours and watch.

Glad there is only 20 min left...

p.s. is there a carpool to the meeting?
Since I had 2 orders, no gas money. Public transportation for me!

Yeah, looking forward to that one, and hopefully some coupons that will show up at the same time. I'd still like to pick up The Hidden Fortress, Persona, The Great Beauty, Breaking the Waves, A Brief History of Time, and all the May releases. Hmmm.. I think i need a second and third job.

good question. it's about time that I see another Malle film. seen 3 so far and have not been disappointed. I'll get The Fire Within or Lacombe, Lucien from the library tomorrow.

Well XOXO usually represents kisses & hugs but looking at the films the signs would be the other way round, The Lovers having the X & The Fire Within the O.
