Default Abrams Not Sure About Cloverfield 2?

SCI FI Wire talked to J.J. Abrams, who said that the Cloverfield team might want to do another project instead of a sequel.

"We're talking about it," he said, "But the truth is there's another idea that I'd rather do with the same people than do a sequel. It's a whole new thing."

You can read more of what he had to say here

While I loved this movie, I don't think a sequel is necessary. It was a one-shot deal that captured the imagination. That being said - if they did it in a different manner than the first person camera, maybe it would be ok.

The only absolution the first film could possibly receive through a sequel is to design it as a documentary set in the future that looks back on what happened and how it finally was resolved. If they don't do this as a sequel, the film will remain at the VERY bottom of the list for me.

'Cloverfield' is the one movie that I can unequivocally slash in every instance that it arises in any type of conversation. Every other film that I didn't enjoy can still have its merits. 'Cloverfield' was more than a complete waste.
