I'm not a huge fan of steelbooks, except for a few, but to me its the artwork of the cover that i really go in for. I think the Loki one is my favorite and i know some of you like to get the one with Natalie Portman on it, which i thought the best verison of that would be the Loki verison cause it has more to it.

For Iron Man 3, i did buy the 3D Verison but i hated the cover, so i was able to trade the one with Gwyneth Paltrow on the cover. OCD people would probably freak out on it but honestly it was my favorite cover for the blu-ray.

And the Avengers, i was lucky to get the 3D Verison with bonus blu-ray disc from target during their 18.96 price mistake they had, and was able to get the 3D Linear and Poster from a different store through a method.....that could of gotten me in trouble

Unfortunately no. It's a short EPK video that's been on youtube for quite some time.

The Wal-Mart VUDU exclusive is simply a 6-minute Loki featurette, that is not actually included in the disc, but a VUDU code on the front cover sticker. When you redeem the code, the 6-minute bonus sits in your VUDU collection as it's own independent movie. Lame.
Probably not since the steelbook is mostly sold out.

after all the talk I'm surprised the 3d is as good as it is in this one. it helps that my brightness is set at 55. once again 3d adds to my enjoyment.

I hear you. Best Buy and these exclusive steels are getting annoying. They get about 5 copies per store and call it a day. No more restock or anything.

Just finished this and felt it was about as good as Thor. Worth a 7/10, but slightly short of The Avengers IMHO.

Ok interesting issue. My friends copy of the Steelbook that I got for him at Best Buy on Tuesday didn't have the digital code paper in it. Do we take it back to best buy and have them open another 3D copy for the code or do we contact Disney saying the paper was not in there?

Never seen this happen before but sure enough, it was missing when he opened it today at work.

I'd go to best buy first but if your store is like the ones out here, there are no more 3d copies

I can't believe how hard this has been to find. I've checked 8 stores looking for any exclusive, and nothing.

This but I also want to mention I have done with with other distributors (Universal) and they were happy/fast to assist.

I've had a few steelbooks come with 2 digital copy inserts that were stuck together so maybe this problem robs one pack and gives to another.

Its mainly because stores/disney did not anticipate the demand for this movie. I said this in an earlier post, but they probably looked at Iron Man 3's 3D sales and saw that those were terrible, and decided not to produce as much. The problem is, Iron Man 3 3d was terribly priced, and the cover looked horrible (felt nice but looked horrible) in any ad advertising it. Thor 3D, not only does it get a slipcover, retailers have exclusives (I don't think any retailers had any exclusives for Iron Man 3), but also reasonably priced as well.

Plus only a few bucks more for the 3d over than the 2d. For $2-3, people are likely to pay extra, $5 and beyond and they lose interest.

In my experience these digital codes literally cost them fractions of a penny if even that. (Paying the CS rep is the only cost) All they care about is you proving that you actually purchased the movie, not trying to cheat them out of copy they could have sold you. A free replacement code is more worth it to them about the goodwill it creates between customer and studio.

Yeah, it's simply a poor business decision to produce something in limited quantities and make it cheap on release day.

But also, why make steelbooks (or collectible/exclusive anything really) in the first place if they anticipate a tough sell? IMO this was more than just reasonably priced (we're pretty used to seeing/paying $29.99 for a first week 3D blockbuster and $22.99 for 2D).

I just broke down and got the most generic version there was - the only version BB stocked. No slipcover, nothing - just a boring generic case. There are either millions of people who really like special packaging or they're all scalpers who camp out outside the store and buy in bulk to resell on ebay. A quick glance on ebay will reveal lots of copies up for bid. Well, at least Best Buy is happy. Their bait-and-switch tactics worked on me because I walked out with a couple of other titles I hadn't planned on buying.

I'm not letting this happen to me again. I preordered the Hunger Games 2 steelbook by making a $5 deposit. Preordering is a must if you plan on grabbing any of their exclusives. I know that now.
