In my experience, Hastings always carries multiple copies of the CE titles for $19.99 (finding the non-CE titles is pretty hit or miss), for anyone living in the mid-West or Rockies

MPI is releasing Death Spa so they seem to be back in business - they could certainly do a re-release at some point. But even if MPI doesn't have the rights anymore I don't think whoever does would just sit on it. It's ripe for an upgrade IMO.

I can't see TCM staying OOP in the US for too much longer, whether it's Scream Factory, Dark Sky/MPI or someone else, even if it's just a straight rerelease. Even if it doesn't get rereleased, the UK Second Sight release is still available and still cheap, and possibly a better release overall. Supposedly, it's Region Free.

The way I understood it, MPI flat out owns the US rights to TCM.

They then sublicensed it to Warner for some reason, and allowed theirs to go oop (probably contractual). And Warner has yet to do anything with it.

Maybe they'll release it again when Warner's rights run out, probably within the next couple of years.

You might be right about that.

I voted for cover B as well since it's the one I'm most familiar and also cover A looks a little too photoshoppy. And also, it's like someone said in the thread, cover A resembles the newly commissioned art a little too much.

Cool, thanks a lot for that advice. I'll prolly go with the second sight version if nothing gets announced soon then if the features aren't all PAL!

The disc is region free, but the extras are apparently SD-PAL.

PQ sounds good.
I guess 'some minor compression artifacts' is the best we can hope for from Scream in the encoding department. Hey Lyris, any chance you can cross the pond and help these guys out?

Thanks again for everyone's votes! The quantity of them caught us nicely by surprise. We have some great extras in the works and we'll be announcing them later on in the Spring.
I have to say, the commissioned art for this one is their best yet. Very refreshing to see them venture out of their 'artists stable' and ditch the floating head/collage template.

Huh. I prefer the other one. I won't be buying it anyway, as I didn't care for it.

The larger expanse of open water around her in A exudes a greater mood of isolation and vulnerability than the looming, about-to-devour-her croc in B. Plus the tree-ridged, fog-topped mountains add an air of atmosphere.

Totally agree. This release is shaping up quite nicely. Might shoot to the top of my Scream Factory CE's.

I can see what they were aiming for, and I like the idea - but the execution is poor. Like bad Photoshop. The crocodile looks awkwardly pasted onto the lake, with minimal effort to integrate it into the surface of the water. Same goes for the swimmer. No discussion - this simply isn't good handiwork.
