United Kingdom Classe Tous Risques (1960)

Classe Tous Risques Blu-ray

A really great film, glad I finally caught up with it. Didn't see a thread dedicated to the film.

Great film. If you like French crime movies this is a must.

I got this for a no-brainer price at work (£7.69) and haven't watched it yet but heard great things and am a Belmondo fan (the back mentions this was the same year he starred in À Bout De Souffle...my favourite Godard film) so look forward to seeing it!

I picked this up at the weekend, and watched it on Monday night (for the first time since the Criterion DVD was released years ago). It's a great film, albeit one which clashes with my own interests within that era of French cinema. Lovely disc too, though as José Giovanni is by far the most interesting person involved (bar Belmondo) in the film I do wish there was on-disc extra material dedicated to him. And here's hoping Le Trou follows soon.

Belmondo is the best, and he's great in this, though it is a very different movie to Breathless.

Haha yeah I understand that, I was hoping for something with Belmondo but very different from Breathless...sounds like it will be just the ticket. I'm into noir/gangster films and haven't seen many European ones so thought it looked like a worthy blind-buy!

Tomorrow's Arrow Flash sale might prove the ideal opportunity, if it's included.

this is an excellent film, will pick it up when the price drops a bit.

Hopefully Studio Canal release Bob Le Flambeur this year too.

And a few recommendations. Two films from Claude Sautet that I really like: A Heart in Winter and Mado. And José Giovanni's, in my opinion, best film: Two Men in Town

Hopefully, we will see Blu-ray releases soon!

Cesar and Rosalie is also out on Blu-ray in the United Kingdom.

Thank you for the recommendations, Svet. I own the Criterion release of Classe Tous Risques. I remember enjoying the first half more. I'll probably stick to the DVD for now and wait for a Criterion upgrade somewhere down the road.

You are welcome, Matti. It is a wonderful presentation. Hopefully Criterion will bring the film to the U.S. as well.

On a side note, someone emailed me with a question about Cesar et Rosalie. I tried to respond but the email bounced back. (The initials are M.T. ).

The answer: Our review on the site is for the UK release, but I have the French release (see photos below). They are indeed identical

Svet, is the documentary English-friendly on the French release?
