Amazon instant video - Blu-ray Forum

Since cutting my cord i've been watching new releases via Amazon instant. Despite a strong internet connection all i ever get is 2 channel audio, possibly mono. The front three channels all play the same thing, no signal to the surrounds. Anybody else have this issue?

Can't comment about surround as I don't use the service with my home cinema (not good enough quality IMO) but on my bedroom tv the audio does sound like stereo rather than mono. How do you find the picture? I am seeing lots of judder with camera pans on every single thing I watch. It seems to be nowhere near Netflix quality assuming all things are equal in terms of connection etc..

I use both, Netflix and Amazon. PQ seems similar to my eye. I will say i have far more interuption issues with Amazon. There is also no meaningful way to advance an rewind with Amazon as you can't see the progression as you go. Finally most Netflix movies seem to have surround. Neither service seem to approach the picture and sound quality of a blu-ray disc in my experience.

The only thing I like about AIV over Netflix is the multiple subtitle options they provide. You can change font size, transparancy, etc..At least on the app on my PS3, not sure about other versions.

That's interesting. I stream from my blu-ray players, I'm not sure if those features are supported.

I'm just going from memory here, but I am pretty sure I remember reading or hearing that Amazon really only streams stereo sound. They might have begun to stream some things with 5.1 mixes, but I don't think it would be common yet.
