Late next year, probably Q4 '09, which is why they released Prologue.

that really sucks... what the hell is the issue or delay for... i have the released version and it is really a great game... so the full version i hope is amazing.... getting passed class a b and c makes the game even more fun with the quick tune options...

then again this game is not as good without a logitech wheel!!

I believe I heard somewhere that it takes 6 weeks for one programmer to create 1 car (sounds/visuals/physics). Seeing as how they want 900+ for the final game, plus development of the various tracks (I'm kinda hoping that EVERY track that has been in the series is included), weather effects, etc. you can kind of guess that it will be awhile before the final build of the game is complete. Meanwhile, just enjoy Prologue and wait anxiously for DLC (new tracks/cars).

all valid points... and i can wait if it will be that amazing... i just hate being a very impatient person...
900 cars?? wow... and i thought 70 was a lot... lets just hope they also have the cars get damaged as its way to easy to just smash into a car in front of you in order to make a tight turn.. cheating sure but kind of fun.

I got an idea for the programmers for the next game. Keep the same cars but give us different tracks. A whole lotta tracks!! I don't think the cars can get anymore detailed than they are now.

Car damage isn't something I'm very keen on seeing. Maybe in single player, where it forces you to be a better, more conscientious driver, but online is going to be a disaster. This game is supposed to be a showcase of the world's best cars, and skill. When they introduce damage, you're going to have nothing but a bunch of idiots and kids trying to wreck everyone on the track for kicks, or because they're losing. If they do allow damage in the online mode, like everything else in this game, I hope its ultra realistic. Meaning, the cars will only be able to sustain so much before they're out of the race for good, and it should have a definite impact on it's speed and how the car handles.

Edit: Oh... also, maybe they should make it where if you damage your car, you need to spend game credits to fix it, and a total wreck mean you have to replace it, which means reward cars like the BMW Concept 1 would be lost to you... forever. Let car damage carry over to your home garage, so you have to deal with it for both online and offline racing.

I don't see how you can ever add damage online. I tried the GRID demo the other day with damage online and as soon as someone sees you are going to pass them they slam in to you basically destroying your car. I got out front early one game and won, then the next two I got taken out numerous times. Then learned if you stay back you can usually pass more cars once they take each other out though this makes it tough to catch the leader. I still like the F1 racing concept of no collisions. This takes blocking out of the equation but also alleviates the anger of getting smashed into for no reason other than ineptitude or for spite.

They plan to see how long they can charge $40 for the demo before making any plans for releasing the whole game.

Not this again...

I would rather pay $40 to play this "demo", than full price for a lot of the crap "finished" games that developers put out to market. Quit whining about the $40 price tag. If you don't want to pay for this game, don't. It's tiresome to see people are still...

Funny how this so called demo still puts to shame any piece of crap that has a ea title on it! Truthfully the only game i have seen better then this newest gt game so far is the newest forza on a console system.

I read an interview last year with the head of Polyphony Digital, and his concerns were the same with regard to online play. I'm not sure what they decided on, but at the time they were considering penalizing drivers in online races. So if someone tried purposely bumping someone, their car would either be damaged or given a time penalty, but the person hit would be mostly unaffected. I'm not sure how they would put it in play, but I'm glad they're considering penalties for offenders. I think it would be hard to strike the perfect balance between playability and damage, but hopefully, they'll get it right.

yeah, look at motorstorm, people were willing to pay $60 for less cars and a few more tracks, no splitscreen, and similar online, yet people call GT5 a ripoff. motorstorm (a good game) is a worse value than GT5:P yet people complain, because the full game is coming out over a year and a half after the prologue. Give me a break. PD did what is best for the fans and that is to release a prologue, instead of making us wait that long til the next installment.

and gt5:P definately gives forza 2 a run for its money, i personally find a better driving experience out of GT5:P

to all the people concerned with online.

why does Polyphony Digital not have the right to permaban the users who wreck the game for everybody else from the GT servers? thats the best option. make half the game worthless to the poor sports and people who don't want to play correctly. im not saying bad crashes will get you permaband if its a once in a while thing, but for those who wreck their car every race or drive backwards trying to do head on collisions, throw them out.

That penalty system is in place, actually.... but it doesn't work as well as I had hoped it would. The game doesn't, as yet, differentiate between the person who is causing the crash, and who is the victim of it. In fact, I was rear ended in an online race on High Speed Ring, at the chicane and got hit with the collision penalty while the driver who hit me didn't get anything and zipped past me. Meanwhile, the collision sent me off the track and into the barrier where I got hit with the additional barrier penalty. At the time I was running third, a couple car lengths behind the leader and gaining with about 1 and 1/4 laps remaining. Needless to say, I finished near the back.

I guess things could have been worse. I didn't get hit with the shortcut penalty for going off the track before hitting the wall, and I didn't finish last.

The problem with that is determining intent, justice is a tool, and everyone wants justice that best serves them. How would you build the ai structure to determine human intent of oh crap my cat hit the controller and caused me to hit someone else... btw my cat has personally assisted me in throwing grenades at team mates, by physically head butting the grenade button.. to the ahhaha im a evil overlord and I want to mess everyone up...

Accidents can happen often while purpose intent may only happen a few times, how would you determine intent, would you place the player on a trial with a judge and sets of witness and trial the intent?

You could inadvertently create a situation where good players with evil cats or dogs, various other animals or evil family members, absolute banning from the game.

Remember Justice is not fair.

Agreed! This game is absolutely awesome with the Wheel. I love driving games and have always played with a controller until I bought the Logitech Driving Force GT wheel. It definetely gives you an advantage over a controller especially on times. I also use this wheel for NFS Prostreet and Carbon. I have yet to try it with Dirt or the GRID demo. As far as everyone calling it a Demo I think it is far from it. After A, B, C classes are complete then there is the S class which requires your cars to be tuned if you want a chance in hell of winning. Along with the classes there are still all the cups within the dealerships to complete. If you are strapped for cash and tired of the same old races then take it online to earn some cash. Granted online can be frustrating with people crashing into you, but hey payback is a B*&^%! Honestly I will drop out at the end of the race and try to find another race where there are people who actually want to race. There is nothing like running 3 and 4 cars in the turns at Daytona and keeping it real! If you don't buy prologue and get used to the game, you WILL have a hard time beating the guys who bought prologue the year before. I heard that the update for prologue in September is supposed to have the Damage feature included. Prologue for $39 is far better than most full games at $59 in my opinion. The true experience of GT5 is definetely with a wheel, I will never again race with a controller....
