You never "had" to buy anything. If you stayed away from Radio Shack and used the Computer Shopper magazine, you could get a good deal.

This lawsuit has a pretty bad aura around it. The main appeal is, "Do nothing but give us your personal information, and we'll send you $10. You don't have to show receipts or anything."

If you're going to do that, you're looking for free money, and lots of people will promise you free money. These are not the kind of people you'd invite into your home, or let them tinker with your identity on line.
