Has a pre-order date been set for The Blob? I've been away from the forums for a few months only briefly checking in every now and then (I had a baby girl in November) and last I heard people speculated that the film would release in October meaning a spring/summer pre-order window. Is that still all the info we have or do we know a specific month/day?

SAE seems to have small delay on most recent releases because they decided to change back to normal cases. Good decision. I hate those flabby bullsh#t eco cases which seem to be popular in many US releases. Next time I order them they should give me free standard cases so that I can replace Zulu and The Blue Max eco cases .

From the SAE front page.

March 10th - The tentative street date for our five March titles was March 11th, but owing to some production difficulties the 5 titles, Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia, Equus, Conrack, Fever Pitch, and All The King's Men will be arriving at SAE on "staggered" dates over the course of the next 2 weeks. The primary reason for the delay is our choice to go with "standard" blu-ray cases as opposed to "eco cases" which are proving unpopular with collectors. We are of course sorry for the inconvenience.

SAE should have ordered a few thousand standard cases using Amazon Prime. Then hired a college intern at $8 per hour to switch the cases before packing and shipping.

Wouldn't Twilight Time at some point have established exact specifications and cost of type and quality of material to be used with sub-contractors that manufacture and assemble the product (disc, insert, case) ? Twilight Time must have known there are several different types of cases available, so wouldn't they have had to specifiy a certain type?

Twilight Time titles had always been packaged in Viva Elite cases until recently. So it would appear the sub-contractor substituted eco cases for viva elite. Did they do this w/o Twilight Time's knowledge? Was Twilight Time not paying attention? Not a huge deal, but it appears to be sloppy business practice on both ends.

From TT's FB page:

A SPECIAL EVENT FOR TWILIGHT TIME’S THIRD BIRTHDAY ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19th!

It seems like only yesterday, but incredibly, Twilight Time turns 3 years old this month, and to celebrate we are doing something we’ve never done before which is to offer a special price-promotion on 36 of our Blu-ray titles (one for each month we’ve been in operation!) This promotion will last for exactly 5 days - it will begin with the April pre-orders on Wednesday, March 19th at 4 pm EST, and will run to Monday, March 24th at 4 pm EST. The promotion will be exclusive to SAE’s website at http://www.screenarchives.com

- this is a way to thank you, our intrepid aficionados, for all your support these 3 amazing years, and to give many of you a chance to catch up on titles you may have wanted but put on the back burner, and also to encourage new devotees to try some of our more esoteric back-catalogue items. And thank you again for your patience while the March titles have been delayed.

Over the course of these 36 months we have climbed a very steep learning curve, and that process continues apace. We’ll continue to refine what we do and adjust to the constantly changing demands of the home entertainment business. And believe it or not, we hear what you tell us, and we’ll always try our best to adapt (take that, eco cases!!)

Also on Wednesday, March 19th at 4 pm EST when the April pre-orders go live, we will have approximately 150 copies of THE FRONT signed by the lovely Miss Andrea Marcovicci, which will be available for the usual $100 or more of TT product - but this month your $100 will go a lot further if you wish to take advantage of the price-promotion gang of 36 - all of which are listed below. SAE suggests that for those of you wishing to take part in the promotion and also inclined to obtain a signed copy of THE FRONT, use the list below to pre-load your shopping cart so you’ll be able to proceed directly to the autographed copy icon.

Once again, this promotion is for 5 DAYS ONLY - so get ready to start your engines - (PLEASE NOTE: all titles in the promotion will be discounted by $10 - which means those that ordinarily retail for $29.95 will be $19.95, and those that are $34.95 will be $24.95.)

5 DAYS ONLY - $10 OFF THE REGULAR PRICE - HERE IS THE GANG OF 36!

Oh cool. Shame neither Hard Times or The Driver. Very tempted to grab Lost Horizon, Jane Eyre, The Disappearance and The Other.

Hopefully the first of many sales to come,

There are some titles on here that I will consider buying now that they are 10 bucks less (Bite the Bullet, Roots of Heaven, Experiment in Terror).

In so many words. It's funny because a year ago I posted on here how it would make sense if TT/SAE had a sale on the titles that were never going to come close to selling out, and then of course I was screamed at because that would be a betrayal and against the business model...you know the usual cult mentality stuff. Well here ya go.... I've blind bought plenty of TT titles, but some of them on this list I had interest in, but there was no way I'd blind buy them for 29.95 and up.
