The 1.62 update must have been really minor since it wasn't forced. Anyway, the update went smoothly.
If it loads, it works well but for me it is like this...if I go to the store as soon as I turn the console on, it always works. If I play a game, for example, first and then try to go to the store, about half the time it fails to load. So, I'm frequently shutting the PS4 down and bringing it back up just to be able to check the store. |

I updated my ps4 today. Something I have begun to dislike about the ps4 is that it will download things, but it won't always install them. It wanted to auto download the update today. I let it do that, but it wouldn't install it. I ended up having to go into the service menu to manually redownload and install the update. Little kinks like this really should have been ironed out a while ago.

PlayStation just tweeted the next update will add a video editor and the ability to export video grabs and screen grabs to USB. Nothing on 3D blu-ray though.

I'm happy with this news; as a non FB user it means I finally have a reason to use the share button!

Here at PlayStation, we listen closely to your comments and requests, which are weighted heavily when looking at the future of our platforms. Since PlayStation 4 launched, we’ve heard a lot of great feedback from you about what you like with the platform and what you’d like to see us work on.
I’m happy to report that, as a direct result of your feedback, we’ll soon be bringing some of your most-requested features to PS4 with a system software update in the upcoming weeks. These features and additions will help make your PS4 even more socially connected by further enabling you to customise your most epic gaming moments and granting even more options to show them to your friends. This upcoming update will add a rich video editor with a simple tool to personalise your video clips, and you’ll also be able to export to and save the videos and screenshots you create by pressing the SHARE button to a USB drive. In addition, this update will add an HDCP off option for capturing gameplay via HDMI, a feature we’ve previously said would come after launch. We recognise that some gamers want to record and share longer clips of their gameplay sessions, and we’re excited to deliver this option with PS4. There’s a lot more coming in this update as well, so stay tuned for more — there will be plenty in the update to excite everyone. As part of a separate system software update in the future, we have been working with our partners at Twitch and Ustream, and will also be adding the ability for Twitch broadcasts to be archived – another highly requested feature among PS4 fans who are taking advantage of the SHARE button features. These broadcasts will be also provided with a higher resolution of 720p, so PS4 fans can enjoy live broadcasts with clearer images. We’ll have more to come on these updates and more in the coming weeks. http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2014/...ncements-hdcp/ Last edited by Mavrick; 03-19-2014 at 04:31 PM. |

The update sounds great so hopefully it doesn't take long for them to release it. It is especially good news to me since I take so many screenshots.
It would be nice to save them directly to a USB drive instead of having to go through Twitter or Facebook. I have a feeling I will still use Twitter some though since it is almost like having a free hosting service for pics but of course they resize them. Still convenient though. Also, on Facebook, apparently they don't get resized but i haven't tried going that route yet. So, what is the reason for an HDCP off option? Is this for capturing video with an external device? |

Email, youtube or just put it straight onto your phone/tablet and show them that way.

That last patch worked wonders for my PS4. Everything works a lot quicker for me now, no more lag sending game invites, no more lag in the PS store, no more lag going to the home screen while in game. I was starting to think something was wrong with my PS4 as it was so damn slow doing basic stuff.

Currently, if you upload screenshots to Twitter or Facebook, those screenshots also show up in the "What's New" section of the XMB for people on your friends list (or maybe anyone on PSN to view if you have your settings completely open) to view either through PSN or you can choose to open the source link (twitter or facebook) to view it directly. You can also give the pics a thumbs up (not sure if you can vote down or not). So, in a way, they're already allowing screenshots to be shared through PSN and would just need to allow that same thing when saving to a USB drive. Edit: I think you may be able to view them by going to the person's profile also but I'm not sure about that. If you mean sharing them through PSN with people that don't have PSN, I bet that won't happen since it seems like they'd only want people that have a PSN account to access PSN. In this case, you'd probably need to do what most people do now and just use one of those photo sharing sites. Last edited by owa; 03-20-2014 at 02:19 PM. |
