Hey pro-B, just wondering how you thought the transfer for Bullet Ballet compares to the one for Tokyo Fist?

Hi D

These two releases use high-quality transfers. It is very easy to see that quality work was done. We will have a review up for this release shortly

Now we need A Snake of June so that I could replace my Tartan disc.

Pro-B

p.s. Forgot to mention, the audio is very nice!

Just remembered, thanks to Svet review, that TWF also has Tokyo Fist and Bullet Ballet on BD.
I know what I'm picking up in the UK next month.

Just finished Bullet Ballet and like Tetsuo, it starts with a bang but ends with a whisper for me.

Indeed, they all began very strong on me, but I had troubles staying interested all along. These are 2 quite short movies which have plenty of energy to give, but their looseness tend to "bore" me in the end, while it remains fascinating from a pure look point of view. I mean, these are truly punk movies.

DVD PRESS RELEASE:

AMAZON PRE-ORDER
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...M&linkCode=as2

STREET DATE: MARCH 24TH.

Quote:
Ryohei Watanabe’s debut film concerns two teenage girls and their friendships. The first friend is Misa, a stocky girl who is viciously dubbed Pooh at school, due to her surname “Kumada” (bear + rice paddy) and masculine frame. The other friend is Izumi, who says she can’t make and keep friends because all the other girls are jealous of her looks. Together, the two become best of friends owed to them both being such firm outsiders. Their blossoming friendship starts off as endearing and as the two spend more and more time together the sheen of the relationship peels away. When the darkness and violence eventually bleed into the mix, that authenticity turns what could just be another tale of teenage friendship gone awry, into a genuinely disturbing thriller.

Nominated – Best Debut Film – Raindance Film Festival
Winner – Entertainment Award and Cinema Fan Award at the PIA Film Festival

Special Features:

Anamorphic Widescreen transfer with 5.1 Surround Sound
Interviews with director Ryohei Watanabe and actresses Mimpi*β & Izumi Okamura

please keep up your support for TWF by preordering the bluray of Story of Yonsuke and the DVD of Shady

Story of Yonsuke

TWF FB:

Due to many of our customers requesting for a Blu-ray release we went against our original plans and made THE STORY OF YONOSUKE available on blu-ray. Actually we didn't particularly want to as the film is so long it's so expensive, but did based on requests EXCEPT it really hasn't had any pre-orders so we're in a bit of a situation here. If you originally asked for it to be on blu-ray and are planning to buy it please PRE-ORDER as pre-orders determine how many each shop takes, and if low pre-orders they won't take (m)any and we could be in a wee bit of trouble... Thanks!

times are tough on both sides, but buyers will put their money down if the price is right for them.

for me, a pre-order is rarer these days. £14 is far too high.

tend to wait for a drop to about £8 on a BD.

Pre-ordered Story of Yonosuke, just because I love Third Window. I noticed its sales rank on Amazon is currently 1208 though, which doesn't sound too devastating to me (but what do I know?).

Will order Yonosuke next week when my crappy Prime trial has expired. Though it's a blind buy I'm happy to support by pre-order.

Trouble is that is what will finish the indies, once you factor in what's left over from the £8. Does not make such a difference to the majors, though.

sure. third window had a low price policy until the riots caused the loss of discs & masters a few years back. I was happy to preorder a those lower prices, and still do on the rare occasion something's exceptional and about £12 new, but I'm afraid £14 is unusually high (highest of the films I'm interested in right now) and prices always drop in one place or another in time. I paid £7 for 'woodsman and the rain' on BD last year, still haven't watched it, and it's part of a backlog. I have more films out there I'd like to see than I have ability to watch, I'm afraid, as I usually sit to watch a film once at week and they've just built up over the years.

Story of Yonosuke was £12 until two days ago. Land of Hope and the Tsukamoto's were similarly priced before release.

then it may come down again before release. I use the tracker here and have it set to £8, my typical price I wait for.

as for spotting preorder prices, it's harder to do - I wonder if, in the last couple of years, amazon likes having prices set predominantly high for so it can let customers who placed orders early find out about how they're dropping them over the period they wait until release.

problem is, I don't tend to preorder there because they seem over-inflated, and by the time release comes around I've switched to waiting longer-term for a drop to about £8.

some companies might have control over their preorder prices on amazon, but overall I'd say that if they do, they're making it hard to tempt preorders for releases from companies who don't - I often see CDs for way over the odds, but usually only come back to them further down the line... those led zeppelin reissues were £20 on day of announcement, down to £13 within the day, and, by my guessing, likely to be far cheaper before release, but I've already needed to look elsewhere in the hope of what I expect will be bettered

You've got my pre-order for The Story of Yonosuke and Pluto on blu-ray and Shady on DVD. I wasn't one of the ones who requested TSOY on BD but thank you for taking risks and I hope it pays off. I would've liked to see Shady in HD over Pluto though.

Without enough preorders the price might never drop cuz amazon will probably not take much copys at all.

And that will be a problem for TFW regarding furture releases and amazon Deals. ...

okay. but the price has apparently gone up and down. now, if it can go down once, it should be able to go down again. but it's never guaranteed. and i wouldn't want to get stuck with a higher price despite also having preordered - if that were to be the case. i prefer prices that can be understood as being fairly stable.

You cant compare small labels with the big ones... all im saying us that support is important here. Maybe more important than saving 2-3 gbp. At least if you wanna see more bluray release like this.

Just my 2 cent
