Default Onkyo 705 just went up $50 on AMAZON

I am nearly 99.9% positive that the 705 was selling for like $499 TOTAL shipped all day long & now it is no longer sold directly from Amazon; you have to go through one of their 3rd party sellers whose best price is $549 and then you have the whole warranty/authorized seller thing to worry about.

Anyone know off hand what the 605 was selling for last week, because that is also no longer sold directly from Amazon.

That's odd...it should be going down...the 5 series is being replaced by the 6 series so try hunting down the TXSR706 or TXSR606

As Amazon's supply of an item dwindles down they tend to raise the prices on them. The 05 series of Onkyo receivers is being replaced with the 06 line and hence is probably not in production anymore. Once the current supply is gone from retailers the prices might bounce up a little, at least for new units.

Yup. I do. I price matched a couple times last week cause the price kept dropping.

The silver dropped to 311.99 and the black was around 330 and change.

it usually goes up when amazon sells out. its not amazons pricing it is the 3rd party seller.

once amazon gets new stock, the price will drop back to whatever it was before they sold out (or less).

I was actually surprised at how close the pricing is between Amazon and a retail store like Circuit City are on the new Onkyo 606

I noticed that. The pricing is definitely not consistent and the problem is if you hesitate to think about the price, the supply is basically gone quickly, if the price in fact is low enough. I recall one of those "SR" type bundled Onkyo receiver speaker systems. Retail price is $499 and the first time Amazon had it in stock listed it $379 shipped. It sold out overnight and weeks later got it back in, but the price was jacked up $40. Eventually they listed a third time for $449.

Nice. The $20 really does not matter in that instance for sure
