Of course I saw it in 3D. The visuals were great. I am a huge car fanatic, so that wasn't the part of the film that impressed me the most. I really liked the open roads of Middle America, like something out of gumball rally. 3d added a fair amount to the experience.

While the P1 and all the American muscle cars were really cool, I thoutheght the rest of the supercars felt a little flat. I realize they were replicas, and maybe that's why they looked like they were made of cardboard and flexing while being driven. The flat black lambo looked spray painted. The red Koeenegsegg looked plastic. The Mustang was too generic and there wasn't a single porsche in the film.

I loved the part with the cop at the gas station in Idaho and all the flying shenanigans!

Cool. Yeah, the 3D was a nice addition to this one.
That scene with the cop at the station. That was hilarious.
Lots of cool stunts in this one.
My favorite scene would be the trio race on the freeway, and Aaron Paul on the wrong way of the freeway while still racing the other two on the right side of the road. Crazy and the sense of speed really well done.

I am still seeing the Mustang Ford Commercial featuring NFS the movie, showing the red new version (which only appears at the end actually), but you're right, I didn't see many ads featuring the 3D aspect other than maybe once right before the movie was released.

The 3D was a last minute decision, but turned out very nice (mostly medium 3D), as proven by the fact the stereo 3D credits only appeared after then final Dreamworks logo flashed after the main credits.

Pre-order went up for the UK 3D Blu-ray, which is good since Disney are not releasing a 3D disc in the US.

Disney not releasing the blu ray 3D version in the US? While I like the movie, to not be able to see this again in 3D would prevent me from buying a 2D version at full price. I hope it's not true.

Is the UK version region locked? I don't mind ordering from Amazon UK. But if it will suck if it's locked.

Chances of it not being locked are pretty slim going by the track record of Entertainment One.

Disney seems to be out of the 3D game now - at least on a consumer level. I'm about ready to accept that home 3D is dying.

Once again, another movie that hasn't even been announced for release in the US yet and people are jumping to conclusions.

Not long ago, after it was suggested about 2D only, I did a search for it and found zero results on a 3D blu ray disc. This is set for August 2014 from what I saw. Really hope this is in 3D, otherwise it's a wasted opportunity for the really good, medium/high medium 3D that was in Need for Speed. Great car chase, car race movie too.

get use to it. as much as I hate to say it (I love my 3dtv), 3d is on the way out. unless a movie comes out that gives it a major resurgence. disney is really startin to piss me off. so glad i cancelled my membership.

It is just the reprobates at Disney. They will release it in 3D on streaming sources (including their own app), but not on disc in the U.S. (it has NOTHING to do with 3D acceptance, as sales of some 3D titles continue to be relatively strong). Not that it would make a difference to Disney, but FROZEN would probably have become the biggest selling 3D disc to date (topping GRAVITY and AVATAR, I'd wager)..IF they had released it.

As for glasses free...I did see a bried snippet of the Ultra-D (only s few minutes) and wasn't impressed. Depth was fine, but extensions seemed better with glasses 3D. Of course, most won't care about that. Glasess-free is better thsn quality. (Demonstrated even recently by those who prefer to stream rather than rent a disc.) These days, second-rate is worth paying for.

Also, it seems that the glasses-free technology is compatible with todays 3D discs. It's not like they have to release newly-formatted discs...so any 3D disc purchased now is still compatible. If glasses-free took off, the studios would already have a catalogue of 3D releases. No...what Disney is doing would have Walt turning over in his grave (or wherever). Sure, Mr. Disney was a good businessman with moratoriums on titles and such. But he would not have purposefully tried to prevent viewers from seeing films in the best way possible...which is what the company is currently doing.

The UK version looked like it's distributed by a company called 'Entertainment One'. And based on their previous releases, they don't seem to be region free.

It's only Disney. But take heart...there's a rumor that they may be releasing a 3D version after all. Let's wait and see what happens. It's still early.
