$89.99 right now. Is this the lowest it has ever been?

The previews of what's on the episode at the start of each episode keep me from ever re-watching this. If I accidentally see that it just reminds me too much of everything that happens in this episode so there's no point in watching it. Anyone else have that problem?

The series manages to balance the fine line between drama, action and sci-fi. There has never been a sci-fi this epic on television since the show ended.

Added some screencaps of the miniseries HERE

I have only seen the mini-series and the first and second seasons. Went ahead and ordered it from amazon.com for $89.99. Should keep me busy for awhile.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amazon.com has given me a August 3rd shipment date for Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series.

Also, Bear McCreary has put some details about the Blu-ray release on his blog:

I have exciting news! NBC Universal recently announced the “Battlestar Galactica” Season 4.5 DVD and Complete Series Blu Ray releases. These will include TWO documentaries about my work: “The Evolution of a Cue” and “The Musicians Behind Daybreak.”

These two docs were directed and co-produced by Matthew Gilna, who did our last film, “Inside the Secrets of the Behind the Making of the Music of Battlestar Galactica: Revealed.” I know many fans who enjoyed that movie, but were disappointed that it didn’t actually reveal anything about how my music team and I work. You will all be pleased to know that both of these films are serious documentaries and run a combined 60 minutes!

“The Evolution of a Cue” (DVD and BluRay) will walk you through my entire process of scoring, from the editor’s temp score, through sketching, writing, recording and the final mix. “The Musicians Behind Daybreak” (BluRay only) features interviews with each principle musician and goes into further detail of the Daybreak score, including several music videos like this one that went up on Hulu recently:

I realized when I watched the final cut of both documentaries last week that they are surprisingly honest and forthcoming about this crazy job of mine. I’m very proud of the work that Matthew and I did, because there’s no bullshit filler in these documentaries. You’re not going to watch clips from the show you’ve seen before, or hear interviews repeated in both films.
The films also avoid covering information that is already in this blog, so they’ll make informative companion pieces to the Season 4 entries I wrote. I think if you read this blog and check out the docs, you will all be EXPERTS in the “Battlestar Galactica” score! And you’ll finally get to see more of the various personalities on my music team.

..........

So Say We All!

-Bear

As soon as the title sequence starts I just skip to the next chapter which starts immediately after the Battlestar Galactica title card, problem solved.

That's good to know. I'll just have to remember to do it.

Was one of my favorite shows ever, but I've been unsure about replay value. Putting off the thought of buying till I finish Caprica and Blood & Chrome.
BTW, the last post was #1978, and I just saw a listing for a 9BD German set of the original series. Haven't done the math on 9BDs, so hoping it's not just an upscale.

Still my favorite show of all time. Those that get to watch it now are so much more lucky than those of us who had to wait through those excruciatingly long season breaks.

Amazon UK has the region-free version (everything's the same, except it's missing "The Plan") for £29, which works out to about $48 shipped to the US:

I was (and still am) a huge fan of the show which I saw during it's original run on TV.

But I have to say that I feel sorry for those people who watch it in marathon sessions without the regular breaks.

One of the great joys of old time television was the regular anticipation of waitng for your favorite show to return. It gave you something to look forward to every week. That sense of anticipation was as important as the show itself.

I don't think people today are so much more lucky than us when it comes to watching TV.

I would agree. When that big reveal happened at the end of season 2 and I knew I had to wait for season 3 to premiere to see what happened next, the anticipation was agonizing at times. Heck, when I watched TNG I was always excited when the new season came on the air. Now I just wait for a season to be ready to and go through the episodes at my pace. It isn't quite the same, unfortunately.

Huh? I hated(and still do) waiting for "next week", or "next season".
Thank God for the DVR, as I can save a ton of time getting caught up on TV watching. Plus no commercials.
I'm all for nostalgia...but not in this instance.

I apologize for bumping this thread, but I noticed something quite interesting in the JP Season 4 blu-ray release that was released June 2013.

On the amazon.jp listing, it mentions that it has The Face of the Enemy webisodes as a special feature.

Can anyone confirm this? Because if it's true, this is the first time I think they've ever shown up on any blu-ray release.

Denmark The face of the enemy

Hi there GoldMotel and Cab.
After accidently seing this post, I got quite interested myself, and just jumped the gun, as a blind buy
I recieved my set yesterday, and checked it out today.
The only previous copy I have, is bought on Ioffer, which I think is a bad copy of VCR recording, on a DVD-R disc.. Living in Denmark, I have had no way to see this online, or anywhere else. Like you guys, I have not been able to find this anywhere at all, so this was indeeed interesting news to me
The sad news, I'm afraid, is that there is no english subs on this set, only Japanese.
But then again, who cares, because........ I CAN CONFIRM, that all 10 webisodes is included on disc six, in glorious HD
Mind you, it is not HBO quality, but still, real and true 16:9 HD.
Hope this will answer your questions.
And so say we all
