Typo. There are 10 books in circulation. I actually enjoyed the films as well. I really wanted to see the first storyarc end, which consists of the first five novels. I just that Lerman is wrong, considering he's just a noobie teenaged actor. I might believe him if he was the director, but I don't put any weight on his comments. He doesn't speak for the studio.
I also discovered that 20th Century Fox had previously greenlit the third film for release in 2015, as indicated by this link: http://camphalfblood.wikia.com/wiki/...m_franchise%29 From what the links says, that the principle cast, Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson, and Jake Abel are all signed on for three films. I'm wondering if this is just Lerman's attempt to get out of his contract for the third film. The Girlfriend loves the first two so she was not happy with this news.
The first one is pretty enjoyable and the second one is decent but you can tell they didnt put nearly as much money or effort into it as they did the first one. Seems like there is quite a bit of unresolved plots the second one set up that we will get answers to. |

I wouldn't believe anything that Logan Lerman says. Lerman is under contract with 20th Century Fox for three Percy Jackson films and he desperately wants to get out of his contract, in light of "Noah" coming out and that he could demand more money per film. The problem with that is that 20th Century Fox isn't likely to let him out of that contract. So, his best choice? Start seeding doubt that there won't be any more Percy Jackson movies coming down the pipeline.
There was a three and a half year gap between the production of the first Percy Jackson film and the second and it must be a miracle that he knows more about what 20th Century Fox is going to do before they have even made any decision. Additionally, Fox Studios is busy with Avatar 2, Prometheus 2 and who knows what other blockbuster films are on its schedule. I would imagine that they haven't even addressed the third film yet considering that Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters just came out last year. My guess? We probably won't hear any official announcement until sometime this summer or maybe this fall. Lerman needs to suck it up because he's not getting out of his contract. If there was a decision by the studio not to make a new Percy Jackson film, they would have released him from his contract. As it currently stands, he's still attached for another Percy Jackson film. Honestly, I probably wouldn't expect any official word from the studio until either the end of 2014, or sometime in 2015. I find it dubious that Lerman is stating that the 'Percy Jackson' film series is 'officially dead' considering that nobody from 20th Century Fox has come out to say anything about a new film, one way or the other. Logan Lerman needs to stop this crusade he's on because he's definitely not the spokesman for the studio. ![]() |

Well, apparently, Logan Lerman's revelation about there not being a third film is just his personal opinion and doesn't reflect the opinion of 20th Century Fox. According to Teen.com and MTV News, "It's been a great experience for me," Lerman said of the role. "It's opened up a lot of doors for me, but I don't think it's happening."
I'm just curious where he got the idea from? Like I said, I'm confident that Fox Studios will make a decision sometime between now and the first quarter of 2015. ![]() |

Hopefully, Lerman's comments do not reflect the opinions of Fox Studio execs. Let's hope that this isn't another film series that gets canceled before it makes it way out of the gate. We've already seen such franchises like Jumper, I Am Number Four, The Golden Compass ended before their prime.
The Percy Jackson series is a wonderful replacement to the Harry Potter series and I hope that Fox Studio execs realize that. I think Lerman is just trying to discourage the studio from moving forward because he's signed on for a third film. That's the wonderful thing about contracts, and studios hold their actors up to those contracts. |

Ed, that decision hasn't been reached. Lerman doesn't speak for the movie studio. Fox Studios signed Lerman up for three films and there's a high chance that his contract does have him on tap for three films. Per his contract, if Fox decides to move forward with a third film, there's not a thing that Lerman can do about it. Honestly.
Lerman might not want to return for any further Percy Jackson films but his contract might say otherwise and Fox is not likely to allow Lerman out of his contract. I actually enjoyed the films, although the writing could have been better. It just felt that there was a lot of content left out of the film adaption. |
