And there is already an excellent and extensively-discussed region-free Japanese release that is dirt cheap.

In the works. They want to call it Texas Chainsaw 4. Which films are being ignored, then? Which are part of the continuity? Certainly not 2, as the 2013 film is a sequel only to the original.

Dang, Lionsgate should be legally banned from making anymore TCM "sequels".

It really doesn't matter. Continuity in the TCM series is spotty at best.

And it started with Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III.

Just to clarify, I'm only 31, but I 100% agree with this statement.

As for continuity in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series, the only real continuity as far as I'm concerned occurs between the Michael Bay's Remake and "Beginnings". All the other numbered sequels (including 2) are such shitty slapped together works that the only real linking factor is the title and Leatherface himself. I view each Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie as it's own self contained story/universe with the exception of the Bay/Beginnings combo.

Agreed. While the original is a classic, I'm also very fond of the 2 platinum dunes films. They're the only ones after the original that actually have a coherent story and don't feel like an insult to my intelligence. 2 and 3 are alright, 4 is the worst piece of garbage I've ever seen, and Texas Chainsaw was just a big slap in the face.

They should just call them all Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, since they're all direct sequels to the first film (except for the Platinum Dunes entries).

Especially not all these ones that are basically direct-to-video slapdash sequels that don't really lend themselves to having lengthy cast interviews and making-of documentaries! My mind was fairly blown that they bothered with Halloween 3 (which is one of my favorite awful 80s horror flicks, by the way, don't get me wrong, I love watching it and fully plan on buying it and watching all the special features), and now people want them for Halloween 4 and up? Yikes! Maybe we can get an interview with Michael Myers's stunt driver or Busta Rhymes! I'm glad they're showing some ambition and announcing some actual forgotten minor-classics like Legend of Hellhouse and Ginger Snaps instead of just sticking with oddly-numbered franchise sequels. Those sorts of things and big budget failures like Leviathan seem like much more interesting material for the scream factory treatment than these darn sequels which already had several anchor bay special editions in the past :P
You say this, but how popular is Saturn 3 or The Incredible Melting Man? Yet both of those were released by Scream with pretty nice extras.

On the topic of extras... How cool would it be if Scream could have gotten the original Joe Bob Brigs Monstervision segments for each of these releases (when applicable). They'd be in 4:3 and standard def, but having the option to have the original intro/outro would have been a neat touch to those old enough that remember the show.

Still with WB. They released a DVD-R version last April.

I loved Monstervision. I watched almost every Saturday Night. If it wasn't for Monstervision and USA Up All Night, I would have never discovered a lot of B Gems. I miss the old USA and TNT!

Those were under the shout label instead of the "deluxe" scream one though, right? Saturn 3 is famous for being a troubled production (the famous novel "Money" was written by its screenwriter and he has some thinly fictionalized hilarious stories about the production in it) and had some bigtime actors in it so that's great candidate for features. Melting Man, though, yes, that's pretty obscure.
