Well if insisting on watching the best presentation available is being anal then yeah, I'm anal I guess. Movies are a BIG deal to me and I just won't settle for second best because after all it's a huge time commitment.

Correct, that is why there is ≈ 69 million cable + telco subs and ≈ 34 million satellite subs in the US. As noted earlier, globally the number of pay TV subs is approaching 1 billion.

For myself, dumped cable in the 80's, had DirecTV from the start (1994) switched to Dish in 2004 which was dumped in 2006.

Have had Netflix by mail since 2006, added streaming after it was split off, have Amazon Prime (for several years now) and VUDU. Have already noted all the shortcomings of these services. I like having these services, they augment my network viewing (via a ATSC/QAM tuner card and VideoReDo ) and PBS (via DVB-S2 tuner card & AMC-21 satellite), but they (as in streaming) sure as poop are not a substitute for Blu-ray disc.

I live by my rules not others. Unless I'm at work! So I agree with you completely.

lol, cherry picking a few "newer" releases doesn't mean Jack slick. call me back when 80-90% of all movies released on home video are up... and all new releases come out on netlfix day and date.. till then it's just the same crap that I've watched a billion times.. after the first few months on netflix it's a barren wasteland of the same regurgitated stuff on all the streaming sites.

and when did "it's good enough for most people" become satisfactory. we are the ELITE and proud of it.

Can you watch a Blu-ray without a player? Or on your phone, iPad, Roku, etc?

Plus Netflix wasn't supposed to have ANY new releases. Of course when that's proven wrong here comes the school kid replies. H.265 should be here in time for the new Star Wars movies hitting Netflix.

I wouldn't degrade myself by watching a bluray on a phone even If I could.

lol, a couple of "hand me downs" still doesn't make it worth crap. sorry. no matter HOW you spin it, it still is a sh!t sandwich. as I said ...come back when 90% of home released titles are on there and day and date new releases from studios across the board....until then your "look at all the titles on Netflix!!" is still just verbal masturbation

what does that have to do with anything... cheap crappy quality for cheap price is even LESS incentive for streaming...we want the BEST. anything less than the best (the best quality, the best quality of OWNERSHIP, the best price etc) is an insult and deserves to get kicked to the side.

remeber, we're ELITE.. we expect elite products

The problem is,Netflix, IMO, will be SD only by then! Although I'm sure 1 Mbps bit rates should handle SD just fine!

lol, no kidding. Slick reminds me of pagemaster... repeating the same tired old arguments of "know one will know the difference"..."quality is over rated", "the masses don't care" etc... all the while posting articles that BARELY even address the subject or are warped about as bad as Amir's articles on HD DVD back 7 years ago.

for some reason he thinks he's beating us all with "facts" when he just ends up making a fool of himself and entertainment for the rest of us.

How hypocritical. Looking at your collection, you own some of the NetFlix "hand me downs". I didn't have to go past the first 10 on your list before spotting 2.

the f@ck? how does owning titles that are on netflix make it hypocritical. the titles I OWN are of better quality, I actually OWN them, and never have to pay to see them again. THAT's our definition of elite. the point with netflix, amazon, epic etc is having just a HANDFUL of titles doesn't make it appealing. wake us up when we can have everything at our fingertips

getting scraps from netflix isnt' appealing when I can go to any pawn shop, amazon, best buy or what not and pick up new releases instantly..netlifx has a handful of decent stuff and the rest is bollywood or TV or C- level horror films because the studios won't license them the rest of their catalog

Your words and you were referring to the titles, not the quality. Pure middle school arguments coming out of you. You can watch many on Amazon, you have to pay per viewing. And call me when you own every movie title on Blu-ray. That's your criteria it seems, some kind of obsession with owning every title. Good luck with that Howard Hughes.

if streaming even wants to make a REAL go it for most people we need 100% day and date release along with every title released on home video released for streaming instantly
And if they did that you couldn't afford it now could you? There are thousands of great movies on NetFlix, going to check out Kon Tiki this weekend. Can't wait.
