Some SACD's are just not worth buying over the CD. I feel that way about anything that's not 5.1 channel, but that's my opinion. Some people love 2-channel audio.

The SACD's I most enjoy include:

Bjork - Verpertine (you have to order this from the UK for about $27 shipped).
Peter Gabriel - UP
Ray Charles sings/Basie Swings
Natalie Cole - What a woman knows (I think that's the name).

Anyone know?

Whats the point of having a stereo SACD?
wow i'd buy that, if i had a gun to my head. yuck. where's my tom waits sacds, death cab for cutie?

as for stereo, i have some bob dylan sacds and the stereo tracks are amazing. naturally i ove the multichannel tracks but on the stereo only releases you can still hear so many things that were lost in previous mixes, even the LPs i have.

emos don't hit people, they cut themselves and cry to get even with the cruel world.

i laugh at emos/indie rockers. well if you're a dude and you put any makeup on or grow your hair out to cover your eyes, or die your hair black, i extend a slap to you. from all of the punk rock scene i call you a beeeyach. death cab for cutie. where's my clash on SACD?

Whaa? I dont wear makeup, dye my hair black, and curl it in front of my eyes. Heck, I've never fully heard a death cab song. I've heard clips though, and they seem pretty good to me.

Not to mention- I dont think "emos" () really even exist... You see people that you've described, but never people that "cut themselves and cry to get even with the cruel world"... besides on the internet. But thats all fake anyway.
If anything, people that "put any makeup on or grow their hair out to cover their eyes, or die their hair black" tend to be more cheerful, jumping up and down at concerts. Thats just my observation. Maybe you trust everything encyclopediadramatica.org says? ...just like everyone elese in the world.

OR maybe you're right. There are people out there that dress up in black, dye their hair, cover their eyes, hate everybody and somehow kill themselves daily by slitting their wrists while listening to this death cab band because they cant take it anymore. I dont know.

BACK ON TOPIC-

2.1 you say? Well that kind of sucks.

Oh well... At least i got to argue. I love doing that.

Death Cab for cutie aren't emo, and indie just means a band without a major record label.

If you think Death Cab are "emo", you haven't listened to them.

sorry doby, i guess there was a translation problem with my computer. i meant to say they're CRAP , and i consider them an offshoot of emo, therefore emo. not to disparage you in any way though

and "indie" was a term that referred to independant bands, until they got sogned and triggered a wave of bands that all sound the same. but i don't want to turn this thread into a "i hate DCFC for these reasons".

my sacds shipped today and my other 3 arrived yesterday and today i'm excited.

There is nothing that sounds like Death Cab, they are truely awesome. The Postal Service was a breath of fresh air on the music scene as well. Ben Gibbard is a lyrical genius. There is nothing EMO about them. Listen before judging....

Hey everyone's entitled to their own opinions.

I think Ben is a talented songwriter and I think their live show is excellent.
I only wish they'd release Plans on SACD, one album is not enough.

I think the only one that needs to calm down is you, you're posting smileys like crazy.

Also, I don't think you've ever heard Postal Service, because even by the most expanded definition of the word they are not "rock"; they're electronic.

They're also "indie" because they're with Sub Pop. It's Sub Pop's best selling record since another indie release called "Bleach" by Nirvana.

I think people who call talented musicians crappy are either jaded, uneducated or looking for attention.

Many of the Sony SACDs sounded terrible.
Universal made the best-sounding discs.

The only Sony SACD that I've heard which I thought was terrible was Meatloaf "Bat out of Hell"

The Billy Joel SACD's are amongst my favourites and they're from Sony. (Columbia)
Aerosmith's "Toys in the Attic"
Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds"

The Sony umbrella has released some amazing titles across all genres and numerous classical DSD recordings.

A lot of people seem to diss Sony for the 2-channel recordings, but I have yet to find anything wrong with the fidelity on some of the early STEREO recordings like Thriller, Journey and some of the Dylan SACD's.

I don't find much that justifies that blanket statement.
