One of the best horror films of the 80's. Jeffrey Combs deadpans brilliantly, the gore is outrageous, Barbara Crampton became a new Scream Queen and the score is cannibalised from Psycho.

GO WATCH IT NOW!!

Thanks for the recommendation guys I think I'll put an order in for this. I really like Jeffrey Combs, especially his weird performance in The Frighteners.

Just a tad confused by Second Sight's comments on Facebook. They state, "We'd like to point out that the 'Integral Version' will be exclusive to the Blu-ray Steelbook release and won't appear on the DVD release," but then later comment, "Yes, at some point it will go to standard packaging when the Steelbook is out of print." I take this to mean the integral version is BD-only and not steelbook-only, and will appear in standard packaging later.

They're removing frame-by-frame the vertical scratches, but I'm not sure that's enough to warrant me buying the movie twice unless the encoding is significantly better. I'm pleased with the German mediabook.

.
Correct. There's only a Steelbook release now, so it is exclusive to that. Buwhen that goes OOP in a year or so, they'll re-release the movie in a standard package with the same disc inside.

Got the German Mediabook and this seems to have all the features from the German set? Will see if the transfer betters that of the German one in terms of scratch removal etc then maybe consider selling my German one and picking this up.

All movies should have a steel book and not in limited quantities. They look better.

Despite some people only collecting these because they're limited to begin with (probably people who don't even open them/prospectors), I agree with you. As long as they weren't all cheaply finished .

So first Second Sight says they aren't including the integral version and now they are? Couldn't they get their facts straight before people shelled out for the German release? A-holes.

I agree.
I bought the German mediabooks of both Re-animator movies but I love the artwork on this steelbook so ill double on this one. If they release bride of Re-animator in a steelbook ill probably rebuy that too.
Would have been nice if they had announced their specs before many of us bought the German version(s) though.
And as for the so-called "exclusive" integral version only appearing on the German version, well I suppose Capelight are to blame for that not Second sight?

I wouldn't say either of them were to blame as such when really they are only going to cater for their own domestic market. I agree it's a shame they couldn't clarify their own specs for their releases but you can't blame Second Sight etc on the assumption that UK residents would go seek out an edition produced in Germany primarily for residents there?

Good thing I didn't blow my money on the German releases then.

I have mine locked at a great price of £16.51 on Amazon, now to wait.

It's 2014. The Internet is everywhere. Home video importing is surely at an all time high. Yes, you can blame somebody.

But apparently there is a new phrase in town, "world exclusive", and I guess from now on unless somebody says THAT phrase, we should not extrapolate "exclusive" to mean the same. "Exclusive" now can only be trusted to mean within a regional market.

Provided Second Sight doesn't use a spot removal technique that also inadvertently scrubs authentic film detail.
Capelight couldn't remove those lines so I don't see how SS will be able to. I hope they do mess up and the German release ends up being the one to own.
