I wonder what would have happen if the internet was around a few decades ago when shipping took 4-6 weeks on most items?

Here's hoping the SAE website maintains all the flooded activity on that day.

Christine (1983) sold out in about 7 hours. I think the film being associated with both John Carpenter and Stephen King was responsible for that. I have little doubt that The Blob (1988) will be a quick sellout, but I'm not sure if it will be as fast as Christine. Regardless, I'll be pre-ordering the moment it goes live.

can someone tell me which titles were the ones that were packaged in the eco cases without TT's knowledge?
I can't seem to remember which month's releases they were.

It was the January titles -- ZULU, KHARTOUM, TITUS, and MAN IN THE DARK 3-D.

With regard to SAE and TT, we just wanted to clear up some ongoing confusion and misunderstandings about the relationship between the two companies.

Firstly, SAE is one of the most reputable (online) retailers in the business. Around since 1976 (long before the internet), SAE has for decades been the major purveyor of soundtrack and broadway show albums in the USA. Well-known to all the studios for their handling and distribution of film music, it was a logical decision by TT co-founder Nick Redman who has been producing soundtrack albums for 25 years, and in particular for Fox for the last 20-plus years, to pact with SAE for the retail and fulfillment end of TT's business model.

The model, well-known to SAE, since it has been employed with soundtrack albums for many years, made them the ideal outlet for DVDs and Blu-rays being marketed and retailed in exactly the same way. Like all aspects of TT's model it is based on simplicity both at the licensing and distribution ends of the spectrum.

SAE (based in Virginia), is contracted by TT (based in California) to handle everything to do with shipping and fulfillment. Bear in mind that TT is only one of dozens of labels for which SAE handles these same exact responsibilities. As TT has grown in size and influence, SAE has expanded to retail many DVDs and Blu-rays from other studios and labels. The net effect has been to make SAE a major player in home video distribution just as they had always been for recordings.

The growth factor has been sudden and immense, both for SAE and TT who are both small in terms of human resources. TT's decision to go to 5 titles a month has placed further strain on shipping and distribution necessities and like all things in life it will get sorted out as adjustments are made. Who knows, maybe one day SAE will operate on the same humongous scale as Amazon, but until that day a little bit of patience is required on everybody's part. SAE are taking on more staff to absorb the dramatic increase in volume and TT will work a lot harder to maintain deadlines and schedules -- the exponential growth of TT's business has been somewhat surprising, but rest assured every effort will be made to iron out the kinks and ensure a smoother operation. It's very difficult to prepare for something that's unknown and unexpected, and all anyone can do is roll with the changes as they appear and adapt as quickly as possible.

Thanks to all for your continued enthusiasm and support.

Hello Twilight Time Insider!

How about making The Blob a 6000 limited edition instead of the usual 3000,since this very popular horror title is going to sell out in only a few hours?
Or at least make it a only one per customer.
Afraid to miss out on getting a copy.

Maybe Twilight Time will end up releasing Screamers (1996) from Columbia Pictures.

I have a question perhaps you can answer, since 2013 all of your new titles have also been made availble in store at Amoeba Records in Hollywood. But the price is 10 dollars higher than your 29.99 price(pre shipping)
When I asked a store manager I was given the response that it was the price point set by TT for the arrangement that is in place to have TT titles on their shelf.

Is there any particular reason why the sticker price for them at Ameoba is 10 dollars higher than through the mail. (or was this particular manager speaking of something of which he knows nothing about.)
And are there any other indy retailers that you also make your titles availble at.

And I just want to add, I think its cool that we are able to purchase these in store at Amoeba, I was just curious about the price difference, since Ameoba sells them at more than your retail price.

I noticed these at Amoeba as well. They stock imports / used / etc, so I just assumed they bought them from SAE for their customers and marked them up to make a profit.

Great news! I really appreciate the reviews in helping decide about titles, especially with blind buys (they have pushed me to buy more often than not).
