Does this set still include the digital copies? Are they Vudu/Uvvu?

I'm pretty sure they'd be out-of-date by now.

I don't believe so. I bought my theatrical set back at the end of 2012 and it did not include any DCs.

You can get a new BD player nowadays with all of the streaming services for around $60-80.

Well more is not always better. I saw each film as it opened at the cinema, & loved them all. I didn't feel short changed that they weren't longer. Every film has scenes cut out in the editing stage, would they all be better with them cut back in again? So for me, & I can only speak for me, I'll stick with the films that I saw at the cinema.

Okay that's fine, but have you ever at least seen the extended versions?

I bought the EE when they first came out and I thought they dragged out, so finally ordered the theatrical trilogy, and hopefully the pace will be better

I have always agreed with you, BUT:
In the first place, while I would prefer the extended (never having seen these movies because I prefer the books), it's a cheap way (at $13) for a non-fanatic to at least watch the movies. Secondly, a real fanatic is going to want both versions. Finally, the chromatic "coding" if you will, is seriously different in the two versions and some absolutely loathe the "green tint" applied to the extended editions.

Another reason could be for watching the shorter version when family or friends are over due to time constraints or viewer fatigue.

I think the extended editions of Two Towers and Return of the King are inferior to the theatrical versions. Some of the added stuff is interesting but the pacing is all screwed up. I plan on watching the extended version of Fellowship and the theatrical versions of TT/ROTK every time I watch the series in the future.

No, & I've no excuse, as my local library had the extended DVD's. Maybe one day.

I have a question.. I am looking into getting both theatrical & extended versions of the films, so I just bought the 3 film trilogy to get the theatricals versions (https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-L...Blu-ray/92735/) and I know that I am losing out on features that are included theatricals's stand alone releases that have a 2nd disc (DVD) with a few bonuses on them. But my question is, are the features that are on the 2-disc sets (i.e. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-L...-Blu-ray/1971/) carried over to the extended edition's 5-disc set sets (i.e. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-L...9929/#Review)?

Are the trailers included in this set (LOTR: The Theatrical Trilogy that was released earlier this year, with just the films)?

They aren't but they're not even remotely as good as the extras on the extended trilogy. Don't bother with the 2 disc theatrical sets if you just got the theatrical set.

No, those 5-Disc Extended Edition releases include all the bonus features from the Extended Edition boxset (which in turn are carried out from their old DVD counterpart, for they are actually on DVD) and add the Costa Botes documentaries (one for each movie) on a separate DVD, but the bonus contents from the theatrical cut releases are not included.
