T2.

Picture is crap for BD. Its the worst one I own by a long margin. You would think with the budget this movie got it would at least be on par with some Warner movies. I did however, get it for free... So not complaining, but would complain if it was $20 or so.

I can't believe you feel this way. I could not disagree with you further. 2001 is one of the best movies ever. It is so creative and thought out, with an awesome sound track, outstanding storyline, and little spoken word. That movie shows that you don't need eye candy actors yacking b/s to make for an awesome and entertaining movie. 300 was awesome as well. As for blu rays i regret buying beerfest is about it.

No purchases regretted, as I only buy movies that are worth buying.

But as for free movies... Stealth is the piece of steamy crap in my collection.

Stealth as a movie might be crap, but as a piece of blu eye candy, I think it's a lot of fun. I felt the same way about Underworld, The Marine, Hitman and several other titles. Not the greatest movies by any means, but when you watch them spiffed up in all their eye-popping digital glory, the 'popcorn flick' dimension really gets pumped up and they can be quite enjoyable.

What I'm regretting and struggling with is the films with the thick layers of grain. I understand that it's supposed to be there and in some cases, like 300, it adds it's own dimension, but when I see it on older movies like Close Encounters, I find it distracting and I don't particularly like it. I guess that's blasphemy for me to say that, but it's true.

It's not blasphemy, it's your own taste. As long as you don't go around requesting studios to DNR their releases to death

Nope - not at all. It just adds fuel to my thought that DVD and Blu should co-exist. Vive le difference and all that.

I purchased 30 or so in the first couple of days, and one I got was "House of Flying Daggers" because I thought it would look great.... well... Now I know the importance of checking this site for reviews of pq/aq..... my DVD of it would have sufficed just fine!!!

That is my only regret.

It's still a great AQ showpiece though. The Bean-Scene is awesome

I couldn't have phrased this any better. After watching the first SD verison of this, I was very pleased when the Kubrick Collection was re-released and I got to see a much better produced version of this classic.

After making the plunge and procuring my 50" Panny plasma and my Panny BD-10AK (EBay), I decided that no matter the difference in PQ, that I had to re-purchase 2001, Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket and the Shining in BD.

I've only had a chance to see FMJ, which was noticebly sharper...but I was BLOWN AWAY by the PQ and color on 2001. And it's the oldest film in this group of (4). Even the sound was greatly improved. This is as close as it gets for me, as far as reproducing the experience I had back in 1968 (age 11) when I watched this in 70mm with (at that time) a state of the art sound system. I just recently switched my older Sony receiver to the BD from dig. co-ax (5.1) to analog out, which has made a big difference in the sound. I want to watch 2001 again to see if there is a difference in sound here as well.

The Shining and Clockwork Orange are on for this weekend...as well as the BD version of Blade Runner

Shining, and Clockwork are both STUNNING......

The Audio on all the kubrick flicks is Great as well..... 2001 is mesmerizing. I've watched it 4 or 5 times on blu in just over a month and a half (that's a lot for a long movie!!)

I was a little disappointed with Unbreakable. I love the movie itself, but they could have done a better job with the PQ. Plus it's Disney, so I expected more. It's still way better looking than House of Flying Daggers or Terminator 2 though (both of which I didn't end up purchasing but have seen previews).

300. Got it for a very good price and it was a blind buy. I'll never go back to it. Picture Quality never did sit well with me while viewing but that is beside the point of the content of the movie. Lesson learned!!
