Reverse logic FTW hehe.
An excellent point, though Carrie Fisher doesn't seem to realise what an NDA is or just doesn't care...

I really don't believe in all seriousness that the so-called "main three" could have given a toss if they were in future Star Wars films or not.

I know the OT fans think it matters and, indeed, it does matter to them because they're still hoping for a cinematic experience that matches their expectations that were sixteen years in the making. (They didn't get it in 1999 because George Lucas makes kids' movies, not films for desperate thirty-somethings.)

But there's a different perspective outside that of the OT fans. It reminds me of Lawrence Kasdan who only recently said, of the changes wrought on the movies over the years, that the fans really don't care about such things (I'm paraphrasing here because I don't have the exact quote to hand). I imagine that remark caused quite a few jaws to drop in the strictly OT community.

Chewbacca has a distinctive walk thanks to Mayhew's knock-knees. But he recently had an op on his knees so who knows what Chewie will be walking like in the new film.

I do hope Kenny Baker returns. By the time of the prequels, it could be argued that they didn't need him in the Artoo suit but they used him anyway. Which I thought was quite nice.
It might have been difficult a decade ago when ROTS was in post, but I can't imagine it's that difficult at this stage.

Watched some of Attack of the Clones with my son yesterday. Man the CGI is even worse than I remember. Heck, Playstation 2 games from the era look better than the crap in this film.

That wasn't CGI. Hayden Christiansen is a real person.

Hell, there's probably some late era PS1 games that looked better.

I always imagined someone in the back room squeezing Jawas in a vice whenever someone ordered Jawa Juice. Gotta serve it fresh.

Are you sure he isn't a product of ILM? No one has really seen him since he last movie came out. Maybe he is in the Lucas vault somewhere beside R2.

When I was at Celebration VI Kenny Baker was in poor health and I would be shocked to see him actually get in the R2 "suit" again... Also Peter was in a wheelchair, I wasn't aware of his recent op so this may have been pre op as this was a few years back. Hopefully hes up for it as it would be a nice transition to have the original cast back for at least one movie.

IMO the only actor that NEEDS to come back is Mark. Qui-gon trained Obi-wan and then died in EPI, Obi trained Luke and died in EPIV, I would love to see Luke train the new "hero" and then he can die in EPVII. Then be used occasionally in cameos later as a "force ghost". Either way I really hope this is the Star Wars movie we deserve, I'm sure I'll like it either way as I like the prequels too ... but I just want so much more lol

Yes, Luke is really the only character who needs to return. Maybe Leia, too, based on Lucas's notes about "the other" being more prominent in the new trilogy. But I don't know how much notice is being taken of Lucas's notes.
