Without knowing what the actual sales numbers were or how Amazon sets it's criteria for best sellers, we don't really know how impressive that feat was. For what it's worth, the X-Ray / Schizoid double feature does not appear in a large number of Blu-Ray.com collections (243), nor does Death Valley (279), Crawlspace (184) or The Horror Show (160).

Slumber Party Massacre is in 270 collections and Bad Dreams / Visiting Hours is in 265 after 1 and 2 months respectively, so they seem to be doing considerably better than the other four aforementioned titles.

I'm glad the latter batches are doing better. I'm really hoping Final Exam and The Final Terror will do very well. I'm not concerned about the future of top tier slashers at Scream, they will always have a home, since their best seller over-all seems to be Halloween II. I'm concerned that with poor sales, that they can't financially afford to take a chance on something obscure, like The Final Terror. There are so many B-level slashers that I'd love to see on BD. I'd love to see two or three obscure slashers a year from Scream. I would love to see those in my wish list, and so many others I want, but can't put on here due to space.

I'd love a camping double feature with The Prey and The Forest, etc. A holiday double feature with Blood Rage and New Year's Evil...I'm just dreaming now.

There's a massive slasher fan base, its just that Scream need to start focusing more on the genre and start releasing some of the top tier stuff. The slasher genre is really lacking on Blu ray and I think Scream are the perfect company to change that. I guess rights issues impact on what they can release though. I bet if they released Silent Night Deadly Night, sales would go through the roof.

How well did Terror Train sell?
You have got to be kidding me when you imply DEATH VALLEY isnt as popular as FINAL EXAM. FINAL EXAM is just as "untraditional" as DEATH VALLEY (I should know, I released the damn thing on DVD) and DEATH VALLEY, as well as X-RAY, was very often requested by slasher fans and if they didnt perform to their expectations, then you can bet they will be cautious on ones which are less requested or popular. I know I would have fought hard to license those two titles, and would have been shocked if they underperformed.

The reality is, even some horror titles, either be slashers, or animal attacks movies, if they don't perform well, one has to reconsider if its financially viable to to do more of the similar type in this genre.

But when you think about it, most of the top tier slashers are already out on blu. What else is there? I'd say there are maybe four or five left from the "golden era" of slashers.

Alice Sweet Alice (1976)
Hell Night (1981)
Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)
April Fool's Day (1986) - currently with WB
Sleepaway Camp II (1988)

The rest of these titles don't qualify as top tier, in my opinion.

Antropophagus (1980)
He Know's You're Alone (1980) - currently with WB
Fade to Black (1980)
New Year's Evil (1980)
Madman (1982)
Alone in the Dark (1982) - currently with WB?
The Initiation (1984) - currently with Image
Slaughter High (1986) - currently with LG
Return to Horror High (1987)
Prom Night II (1987)
American Gothic (1988)
Cheerleader Camp (1988)
Cutting Class - (1989)

Plus, don't forget that Prom Night (1980) and Curtains (1983) are coming from Synapse, Tourist Trap (1979) and Bloody Birthday (1981) are coming from 88 Films, Graduation Day (1981) is coming from Vinegar Syndrome, Nightmare (1981) is coming from Code Red, Pieces (1982) is coming from Grindhouse Releasing, The House on Sorority Row (1983) and Sorority House Massacre (1986) are coming from Scorpion Releasing, StageFright (1987) is coming from Blue Underground.

EXACTLY. Once you eliminate the ones you mention, just really really lower tier ones to made for the home video market types, the ones that will sell less then 1200 units, if at that. If someone thinks a FATAL PULSE, SLAUGHTERHOUSE, STAY AWAKE, BLOOD LAKE will outsell a DEATH VALLEY, than I dont know whatelse to say.

I wasn't really panicking, myself....just wondering how they came to their conclusions. Scorpion and Scream just did, so I can deal. My worry was over seeing The Horror Show on that criteria list. I meant no disrespect at all with them... God, they gave me every blu on my top 5 wishlist sans one.... I'll always show my support when I can.

I feel better but if you really think about it Shout Factory is just about the only big label doing slashers right now. Sure, you've got Synapse doing Curtains and Prom Night and Code Red's got a few slashers coming up but the ball is in Shout's court. If they lose interest because of poor sales then we're pretty much screwed. I'm glad that at least some of these movie are making them some money. At least it's not all bad news.

Is GRIZZLY still coming out? I'm a little worried because it sounds like DOGS and DAY OF THE ANIMALS may not have done that well.

Top 5 wish list for bluray release....in no particular order.... Night of the Comet, Phantasm II, They Live, Leviathan.... what's still on that list is Phantasm. Down the list would be Halloween 6 Producer's Cut and Screamers (1996) but that's stuck at a company elsewhere.

Shame to hear movies like Death Valley and The Horror Show aren't performing well. They're very good, I think people would like them if they gave them a chance. I'm extremely grateful to have both in my blu-ray collection.

Those might be two of the least interesting titles they've released so far IMO. SBM, Final Exam, Final Terror... now that's what they should gauge off.

I don't know, I have all the titles listed above and am ordering the titles you've listed below... to me they are all "lesser" titles... FINAL EXAM is a slow moving bore to many people and FINAL TERROR is a low budget B flick with a limited following. I love getting all these flicks for nostalgia reasons...

The fact it's PD is why it isn't going to happen.
