Giving the Three Colors trilogy (which I love) another look this week. Just got through with Blue..always powerful. Makes me wince a bit when Binoche rakes her knuckles against the stone wall.
Part of Night of the Hunter was filmed nearby and yet I've never seen it. I think I'll pick up a copy during the next sale.

3. The Music Room
4. Beauty and the Beast
5. Ivan's Childhood
If anything, this list has made me want to give The Music Room another shot. The first time I tried to watch it I was super sleep deprived and shut it off after 40 odd minutes and never got around to giving it a second go. The other four are some of my all time favorite Criterion films, likely all in my top 20 from the collection.

For foreign language films, I would love to see:
Ingmar Bergman
Robert Bresson
Max Ophuls
While I do think Criterion has been leaning English language heavy lately, I would love to see more Lubitsch and P&P. I've got my eye on a handful from both I'd like to see brought to blu.

As for Bresson, another I would love to see more blu releases from, maybe Criterion can rescue Une femme douce, so that the best looking version out there is this:

Lost in Translation has one of my favorite soundtracks on top of being a very moving film. I wish there were more movies like this that so many people could relate to (stuck in a hotel in an exotic city, alienated from friends and lovers, desperate to explore but afraid to venture outside, etc.). I've felt some of the human emotions from the characters in this film, especially Scarlett's, for sure. I think Sofia deserves to be in the Criterion Collection.

Oh, that film is leagues better than Under the Skin. I'd be ashamed to even attempt to compare the two.

Glad you mentioned Letter Never Sent. A great Russian film with incredible atmosphere. Not in my top five, but a sure 5/5 nonetheless .

However I did not mind that, what I did mind is that in last half hour of this film more then 10 people stood up to go to the bathroom due to the fact that they were serving wine in the bar. I mean who drinks wine at 10:30 in the morning? The viewing experience was ruined for me, but at least the film was brilliant.
Wow, interesting with the morning matinee + wine drinking over there across the pond.

Saw Nympho in cinema and they had interval (didn't need it) and the amount of people late in for second part, just distracting and annoying.

Its a shame people are so inconsiderate to others, even in an indy/specialist cinema, Odeon is worst though - but they rarely show anything decent though
I totally agree as well. I try to seek out showtimes for films I really want to see that are either during a weeknight or a really late showing (and the movie has to have been out for at least a few weeks to avoid the crowds). Fortunately, the patience paid off when I saw Grand Budapest Hotel on a weeknight showing at 10:30 PM on Tuesday night a few weeks ago. I had the whole row to myself and my friends had plenty of seats to stretch out on as well. I always get upset when a film is just starting to come on and 3 noisy kids decide to walk in and sit down either right in front of me or right behind me. I usually just move to another section of the theater but sometimes I don't feel like getting out of my seat. More and more people today are so inconsiderate, unaware, disrespectful and insensitive in public cinemas.

I kept going back and forth, and I can see why the film would be so divisive among audiences, though I must say I'm surprised at the incredible praise it's getting on Rotten Tomatoes. There were many aspects I enjoyed about it such as the visuals and haunting score, and some scenes including the very beginning,
[Show spoiler]the scene on the beach, the moment with the floating blue male victims, Scarlett checking herself out naked , the interaction between Scarlett and a disfigured man was poignant, and the ending was chilling and creepy.
Under the Skin was a very anticipated movie for me, but the end result is mixed to positive for me. It was
[Show spoiler]totally lacking in any plot, it was boring here and there and felt repetitive in the beginning (it felt like a dragged out music video or short film which makes sense given the director's background). I know not all films need to have plot but they should still be executed better than this.
I do agree that it is something that'll necessitate repeat viewings to understand more, because I didn't know what was going on for much of the movie. Not recommended as a blind buy unless you're really into arthouse. Oh, I will say Scarlett was great in the role. As of now, it's sitting at a 3.5/5, which I feel is being a tad generous. These are just my first impressions.
Right on man... I'm glad I'm not the only one who found this film to be a bit longwinded. I'm not convinced director Jonathan Glazer is even much of a talented director. Visually, its an impressive film and there are some shots/sequences that really are just about jaw dropping. But the parts just don't connect to make up the whole. Whatever shallow story there is, is barely enough as a backdrop for the visual centerpiece. Overall, I wanted more. I felt like I've "seen that, been there, done that" and needed more human drama of some sort. The icy coldness might appeal to some viewers but I needed more meaning. Initially I gave it a 0.5 out of 5 but now I give it 3 stars out of 5. Thanks for the posting.

What about a Bluray upgrade of King Of Kings? (1927/1928)

I just thought of that since Easter is coming.
I haven't seen the film, but I would be very much interested in this.
It would have been great if they had released this, this April.

Mine are

Mulholland Drive
Le Samourai
Eraserhead
The Tenant
The Passanger

I doubt another Polanski title would be released so soon after Tess, so The Tenant is probably out. The same for The Passanger, an Antonioni title was only announced last month. Eraserhead would be great, but I doubt it. Mulholland Drive and Le Samourai are more likely, and it would be great if they finally got a released.

Id love for Joan of Ark to get upgrade, reallllly want it but don't see point in getting DVD when an upgrade is very possible and will be much better >.<

Really hope there is some exciting stuff later though on the current coming soon list theres only 2 I am interested in which is frustrating as I have £200 amazon coupon stuck on my account waiting to be used haha so frustrating.

Since you're in the UK. why don't you just get the UK editions instead of pining for Criterion editions.
Criterion are adding nothing new to Like Someone in Love.

£7.39 at Base

£11.39 on Amazon

Nothing solid, just the occasional conversations on various Criterion sites, and little signs like the original DVD going out of print. I'd be very happy to see it as well.
