Thank you.

So, I have been reading so many threads and there are so many things to consider. It's crazy.

With my tv, and with the Blu-ray dvd player, routed thru my old reciever (forgetting about HD audio for a moment), will I be able to put in a Blu-ray disc and hit play and it all come out the way it is intended...in 1080p and all that jazz with out any upscaling or decoding codecs or having articial motion and all the other various discussions I have seen take place?

Can I just "set it and forget it"? hahahaha

connect the bluray player directly to the TV.

Then set it, you will be good to go.

what model is your receiver. i am having doubts that you can pass 1080p from blu to receiver to tv using component.

like the other poster said, use an hdmi to tv for video then optical to receiver (does it have an optical in port?) for audio.

omg, i knew it wouldn't be that easy...hahhaha.

My receiver is a Marantz SR-66...it is about 10 years old.

I will upgrade to the 605, but was wondering untill then.

I like the answer to juts plug the DVD player straight into the TV.

I have the TV running thru the receiver for my speakers (Atlantic Technology 10 years old also), and the sound is decent altho I can't wait to upgrade.

Now, about the Dish stuff....do I need to change the setting on my TV whne watching Dish, and change it again when watching a Blu-ray disc?

(hey, at least I know how to spell Blu-ray disc!)

nope.

But you will probably have to switch between inputs on the TV.

But the Dish stuff won't come in as 1080P?

Will I notice a difference in picture quality between the Dish and the Blu-ray dvds?

I am tempted to bake you all some cookies I am so appreciative of the help.
