United Kingdom The Amazing Spider-Man 2

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

Quote:
My personal opinion on the film: "The Amazing Spider-Man 2 proves itself as being even more than just the colorful roller-coaster 3D spectacle that it is, and while there are some big flaws with the script (namely Electro's character and a lot of cringe-worthy dialogue lines), it's as fun as a Spider-Man could ever be and the ultimate on-film representation of the web-slinger's sarcastic and energetic attitude we all know and love. Be sure to bring tissues with you."

That didn't take long to appear.
I wonder if there'll be a steelbook.

Yes, there will be a steelbook available worldwide. It'll probably be either HMV or Zavvi exclusive in the UK

Good.
I hope it doesn't come with a 3D disc.

Hopefully seeing this Friday. A 3D steelbook would be good but i haven't got the first one on Steelbook so I'll just settle for a standard 3D release.

Most recent Sony steelbooks have not been exclusive like White House Down and After Earth. I hope its not exclusive to a retailer.

I also hope that the 3D version is included.

I just hope that this will come out before early September, otherwise i won't be able to watch it on my home theater, going away for a year.
Do you think that's likely?

But that was in the days when HMV had online and high street sales.
Today their only steelbook exclusives seem to be from EOne (Riddick, Enders Game, Red 2), or Fox (Die Hard 5 and Wolverine).

As said by Monkeyspoons Revenge, Sony on new releases, like Universal, seem happy with market wide sales and are not going down the retailer exclusive path for steelbooks.

You can pretty much guess where steelbooks come from these days.

Paramount = Entertainment store

Fox = HMV instore

Entertainment One = HMV Instore

Disney = Zavvi

New Releases from Warner, Sony, Lionsgate, Universal, Studio Canal = Everywhere

Various catalog releases = Most likely Zavvi.

Fox catalogue releases = most likely everywhere (after their brief flirt with Zavvi).

Also, Studio Canal's latest one (Inside Llewyn Davis) did seem set to be released everywhere but then turned into a Zavvi exclusive, so it may be that they're going down that path for future releases as well. I hope not though, Zavvi are very happy to keep increasing their steelbook prices (knowing that there's always people who'll pay it) and their customer services can be hit and miss. Give me Amazon any day of the week.

As for whether or not Spider-Man's steelbook will contain the 3D version - it's been a while since Sony released a film with a 3D version as a steelbook but their most recent one was Resident Evil: Retribution and that did not include the 3D disc so, although it's been a while and they may have upped their game since then, it's far from definite that it will.

It's not a steelbook, but the UK exclusive of Paramount's Deadwood landed at Zavvi. Perhaps the Paramount/Entertainment Store relationship is not as strong as we think...

New Paramount steelbooks (Star Trek into Darkness, Anchorman 2, World War Z) = Entertainment Store.

Catalogue release steelbooks/exclusives (Star Trek, Anchorman, Beverly Hills Cop, Transformers) = Zavvi.

It's been that way since ES started doing the new Paramount steelbooks so it looks like whatever deal they have worked out is as strong as it ever has been. Perhaps ES just don't want to do the catalogue titles? (I'm assuming it's their choice because I can't see Zavvi turning down the new release films)

Hope there's a steelbook. The steelbook for the original is probably my favourite steelbook.
