Default 2.0 Channel Receiver

I just starting my next project, a 2.0 setup.

I have my dad's old Yamaha NS-A535 bookshelf speakers on some speaker stands. I also acquired his old Sony turntable (I forget the model).

I am looking for a decent 2.0 receiver with a phono input and maybe some digital inputs.

What do you guys recommend?

I was looking at http://www.outlawaudio.com/products/rr2150.html

No digital inputs, but a pretty solid product.

Denon's PMA 1500 is pretty good, and you could probably find one at a reasonable price used...

I was considering a couple of different units when looking for a 2 channel set up not long ago. I really ended up focusing on the used market to be honest, I find your dollar goes a lot further there, I was considering some older Cambridge Audio and NAD models as well as looking at some vintage McIntosh gear, all in the < $1000 range. In the end my father ended up giving me his old NAD 2 channel receiver so that was just a bonus.

Any specific models I should look at?

I would highly suggest looking at vintage receivers, especially if you want something with a phono stage. I got a Marantz 2225 amplifier and it is excellent for that purpose. It was only $200.

Vintage Marantz, Pioneer, Sansui, etc amps offer great sound at a great price. They also look great too.

+1

I just recently picked up an old Pioneer, and I couldn't be happier with what I'm hearing. And as roar stated, $$$ goes a lot farther in the used market. I tend to find myself like

sounds like an integrated amp is what youre after, and if you look at audiogon, there are some good deals there. i saw a creek evolution for $500. theres some nad units, you could even look for some vintage stuff as mentioned above.

Thanks for the responses guys. I live in a condo and the 2.0 setup is right underneath a woman who lives right above me. Even though she is rarely home I don't see the need to "blast it." So maybe it's not worth investing a lot of money into something I won't be able to use the full potential of.

That's why my home theater is in the basement, I have pretty cool neighbors though so it's all good.
