seriously? this bothers people? if you can't find the thread, go to the home page and find your recent posts and just click on one. once you now how to do it once, you never have to worry again. I had no idea that any kind of change had been made.

question for the forum: how many times did you have to see Persona before you were able to make any sense of it?

This nearly 5,000 posting thread should just replace the entire forum on this website because its really the only one I post in. I mean, isn't this the largest thread in the entire forum with nearly 100,000 replies and 6.2 million views? Plus we deserve a super forum, not sub forum. Muahahahaha j/k.

Nope, I thought it was the Nolan movie.

I've personally only seen it once, but from reading reactions from directors, reviewers, and ordinary people about the film, it seems like it's one of those films that will never entirely make sense to some degree.

Hope this helps.

I voiced my dissatisfaction with the sub-forum move yesterday, but after a day of using it this way, I am really warming up to the change. It's one extra click, yes, but things seem so much more organized this way. And I also realized that the majority of the threads I clicked on were the studio threads! Never realized that until now.

EDIT:

Although, I do see a LARGE drop-off in posts in any of these studio threads now. I suppose many people haven't found this sub-forum yet and/or didn't notice the threads missing.

Going in, I had imagined that the most apt comparisons would be 3 Women and Mulholland Drive.. films like that. Now I'd say that the film it most reminds me of is 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I admired Persona, but I can't really say that I liked it. The cinematography was very striking. I guess that was what I liked best about it. Pretty abstract stuff.

A while back I re-watched M after many years, and for the very first time on the Criterion Blu. Beautiful print, and great film. The previous print I saw of this film (on TV about 20 years ago) was utter crap.

The film is quite disturbing, even by today's standards, and Peter Lorre did a great job in the title role.

However, there were actually numerous scenes in the film that I found laugh-out-loud hilarious:

- The scene when the wealthy fat cats were sitting around the table screaming & accusing each other

- The scene with that gluttonous character drinking beer from the largest stein/glass I've ever seen - incredible

-The scene when that guy (can't remember who the character was) had the elaborate cigar/cigarette holder - hilarious

The moment it was announced the Dardennes were working with Marion Cotillard, I just about died. The Cannes line up this year is insane.

Would it trouble some studio to give us a North American release of La Mome?

If anyone can get a career best from this beauty, it's the Dardennes.

Yeah, it's a pretty great line-up. Kind of disappointed Malick's latest isn't there, though.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you've never had beer at the Hofbräuhaus in Munich. You haven't lived until you've seen petite waitresses carrying three 2-liter steins in each hand.

I really need to see the other films by the Dardennes. I've only seen Kid With a Bike and thought it was great. Correction: actually saw The Son, too at Ebertfest, but I don't remember a lick of it.

Really? I don't think I'll ever forget the ending for The Son.

You can't go wrong with any of their films (granted, I still haven't seen Lorna's Silence). If I were to point you to one film for your next Dardenne, I'd probably go with La Promesse.
