I have a VPL HS51 (Cineza) 720p. Lamp was rated similarly (2000 high, 3000 low). My first bulb faded after 1000 hrs on low mode. Never had any abnormal shutdowns I can remember that might have shortened it's life. When it went, it went quickly. Switching to high mode only bought me a few extra hours of viewing until that too was too dim to be tolerable.

I was curious if the VW 50/60/40 bulbs fared any better.

I know that a 2003 Sony HS10 is still working on the original lamp. I think it is about 1400 hours and still okay (although it is bit dim).

I just replaced my 7 year old Sony VPL-VW10HT with a new VPL-VW60 and holy cow, it looks great. I set it up using the Blu-Ray Joe Kane disc, and it did not take much tweaking to get it to look amazing - especially with BD discs!

I figure once it's had a few more hours on it (only got it two weeks ago) I'll re-tweak it again. I'm using a 108" diagonal 16x9 Dalite screen that I bought when I got the 10HT. I think it has a gain of 2.

This projector is a real dazzler, I must say.

I should say that you are absolutely correct. I also have a similar experience.

Default Sony Vw60 sxrd projector

Im currently in the process of buying a new projector for my home. I was wondering if anyone here has any clean shots of the Vw60 on screen and can give any suggestions or recommendations. I have it narrowed down between the epson 1080ub home cinema projector and the sony vw60. Im kinda partial to sony however and I would love to hear from any current vw60 owners here

I love my VW60, can't say I ever considered going for a projector by a company like Epson or BenQ. I'd much rather have something by a company whose focus is more on AV products than PC products.

I was also considering a Victor (JVC) D-ILA projector, those have better brightness and contrast, but the Sony was much cheaper (at least here in Japan) and had a better overall image in terms of colors, etc. It's quite sharp and I'm very satisfied with its black levels and contrast.

I think this thread has pushed me from the Epson to the VW60. If the price is competitive I will most likely get the Sony as I am leary of LCD and prefer SXRD.

Go see a Sony Sxrd pj at a local custom home theater shop and you will be convinced.

(I've actually seen VW50's at Best Buys that have Magnolia Hi Fi sections and also at Sound Advice in addition to custom AV places.)

Ha,

This thread is ancient.

I was bored so I googled VW60 just to see if I could find any new articles and I find this old thread where I suggested I wanted one.

I've had one now for half a year or more and love it. Oh well... back to page one and someone posted some reviews... I like reading reviews of stuff I'm already familiar with just for fun.
