I wonder how much of the delay with Dog Soldier has to do with apparently poor original element quality insufficient for a great high definition release. I understand many of the blimishes with the original Dog Soldiers blu-ray were not due to encoding or transfer but the low budget of the film itself.

Night of the Demons 2 is surprisingly good despite some silliness. It's more campy than the first but a fun timecapsule. I hope for a Night of the Demons 3 release (which I've never seen) soon. That's a shame if Code Red doesn't get some credit for the Evilspeak release. From apperance Code Red lavished EvilSpeak (on DVD at least) with some nice perks such as producing a brand new high definition transfer (which is more than Scream Factory does for many of it's own titles). Code Red created a new (2012) audio commentary and several interviews (Clint Howard, Don Stark, Joe Cortese). I'd like to think Code Red gets the "props" it deserves for their attention with EvilSpeak and it's likely we'll see the Code Red logo on the EvilSpeak blu-ray along with Scream Factory. I understand Scream Factory paid a lump sum for the title/features and is sending it out; but most of the grunt work seems to come from Code Red and that doesn't make the effort any less Code Red's. The artwork appears to just be the standard movie poster; just like the Code Red DVD.

If you read the post from Scream - Dog Soliders has everything to do with rights issues and nothing to do with insufficient elements. And if Scream Factory is releasing Evilspeak, why would they thank Code Red ? They bought and own the rights to film, so we can thank Scream for putting it on blu ray with the extras. If that's the case maybe SF should thank and give props to Fox, MGM and Universal for the use of the transfers. Scream bought the rights to these films - if anything we should say thanks to them, otherwise movies like Prince of Darkness, Motel Hell, House of Usher, Terror Train wouldn't see the light of day on blu ray. We will not see a Code Red logo on Evilspeak. Its a Scream release, man !
We can thank Code Red for selling the movies to Scream though ha ha
Wasn't there some irate fans who wanted in blu ray , and Code Red starting complaining about it not selling 300 copies or something ?

That's like saying MGM should get credit for the Scream Factory release of The Fog or Universal getting credit for They Live on being released on blu-ray.

Scream actually presented to the public on blu-ray, in HD (using supplied Masters by the rightsholder) with extras, both new and old. Replace MGM or Universal with Code Red and you have Evilspeak and Final Exam's situation.

Final Exam and Evilspeak were sublicensed like everything else. That's it. Code Red isn't issuing it. So why should they be the ones getting credit? Scream made a deal for everything they are publishing on the disc. And Code Red certainly didn't want to do either in HD on blu-ray. So...

I don't think Code Red should get any more credit than any other rightsholder/distributor, imo.

For the record, I totally think the Code Red logo will be tiny on the back of the cover (there's a back-cover picture somewhere BTW) just like the MGM, Fox, Universal, etc logos on other titles. :/

As a side-note about Code Red, I'm anxiouisly awaiting the bundle I pre-ordered. I can't wait to marinate in cheesy goodness. $100 is worth it alone for Neon Maniacs! Plus who couldn't be excited about Linda Blair's Savage Streets hair!!

Well, MGM does deserve some credit for The Fog, as Scream used some of their pre-existing extras... But I see what you're getting at.

I'm relieved by the failure of the Kickstarter. Kevin Tenney later said in an interview that he blamed the failure of the Kickstarter on the ad agency he used to promote it. The remake was absolutely terrible. I was excited when they announced the remake, and said it would be theatrical. Surprise, surprise it went DTV.

I'm not anti-remake, either. Friday the 13th, Hills Have Eyes, Black Christmas, Mirrors, Piranha 3-D are just a few of the remakes that I enjoy.

So can someone tell me the main thing that makes Final Exam not a "Collector's Edition"? Is SF not including original content, just doing a new transfer?

Popularity, amount of extras, names involved...

Looking at your taste in film and tv, you could probably use a little Hitchcock to offset all the dumb comedies, and mainstream sci-fi and action flicks. Some people are obviously not too bright, though, as you said, so I won't push anything else too deep or cerebral your way. Don't want you to blow a fuse.

There's no difference between a CE and a Standard release except the art.

Some CE's have more extras, but there are a few Standard releases that have more extras than some CE's.

Basically, if it is an instant name recognizable title that everyone would expect to be a CE... Then it is. That's really it.

Using your example, MGM DOES get credit for the Scream Factory release of The Fog, They Live, Prison, and many other titles. If you check your collection you will see the MGM logo prominently displayed on the spine of those releases and in a sequence before the credits.

Sometimes it's a little disjointed that one person/studio will do all the work/financing then another party can just pay them off and take all the credit; be the original party MGM, Universal, your mom, or Code Red.

Same here; those will be great. Too bad about the Savage Street extras. I miss the glory days of BCI that put gutsy stuff like this in plush special editions. I wish someone would get on bring the Paul Naschy films to blu-ray. Bring back the old Cliff MacMillian.

Based on that, I can see why you wouldn't be a fan. My reactions were the same back when my ex was trying to get me into the show. The show does get a lot better during the second season; especially when it comes to blending monsters of the week with the overall story arc.

I wouldn't recommend the movie, to be honest. I didn't find it to have much laughs, intentional or unintentional.

I would imagine Code Red would get credit for producing the extras, much like any other production company (Red Shirt, as an example), and for being the label that licensed the films to Scream (much like MGM and Universal). I'm not sure if Bill was the one actually behind the transfers (I thought he had said that the director of Evilspeak had the HD transfer done rather than him; although I may be misremembering it).

With that said, I don't think the releases would be considered both part of the Code Red line-up and the Scream Factory line. Ultimately, Scream Factory is the one putting these releases out on Blu-Ray, not Code Red.

Sorry guys but there's been a change of plans for our upcoming Collector's Edition release of DOG SOLDIERS that we need to make you aware of...

Due to unforeseen issues on clear ownership of the rights, we are forced to move the title off of its planned August 26th release. Rest assured, we are doing everything we can to work out a solution to bring this back into our scary fold but, as of now, the street date is undetermined and there is a strong possibility of it moving to early 2015.

As always, we will keep you guys posted on any developments. Our apologies again.

The only time they don't bother me as much is when it's to make the movie/game better. Demons 1 & 2 released by Synapse was well worth the wait.

Same here. I don't plan on giving my DVD copy of Dog Soldier's away until I have the Blu-ray in my hands.
