Fantastic news! That's such a disturbing thriller. Another DVD gets retired.

Well, since we aren't discussing it at the theater even for a first time, let alone a second, we should be good.

What an easy clue.

I need to watch my DVD of it still, but I'm sure I'll like it.

Oh, that's right. We're all good, then!

Seeing that movie for a second time, and then coming home to see a Criterion hint for The Vanishing...

"It was a good day."

I'm going to wait until I see a concrete announcement for The Vanishing before I sell off my DVD, but I'm a happy camper.

Each time I revisit Wild Strawberries I like it more. The Seventh Seal is a whole different animal. I like it, but there are few warm and fuzzies there (although the humor in it is great). The main character in Wild Strawberries reminds me a little of my dad who passed away a couple of years ago.

I cannot wait to read what those of you who haven't yet seen it think about this film when it comes out.

I know it isn't news for anybody, but geez... hard not to be excited about Hulu Plus.

need to see...
The Great Beauty
L'Eclisse
3 Colors Trilogy
L'Argent (Bresson's last film which is supposed to be a masterpiece)
Shoot The Piano Player
Branded to Kill
The Last Metro
a few Godards that I haven't seen.

(and that's just a real quick search through the selection!)

pretty amazing service they have here.. even with the 8 bucks it beats my library, IMO

Fantastic news re: The Vanishing. One of my absolute favorites in the collection (as per my signature).

Now please bring on the upgrades of L'avventura, Man Bites Dog, and the Rohmer collection, and I shall not ask (much) more from you, Criterion.

First Insomnia and now The Vanishing.

And to think some of us were wringing our hands over a lack of upgrades a few months ago.

It took me like 10 seconds to get it and then I was like OOOOH MYYYY GOD . I have yet to see this film and didn't want to purchase the DVD, so I'm glad this is finally getting upgraded! I hope it lives up to what you guys are saying!

Just bagged The Man Who Fell To Earth bluray for £116 - can't argue with that price !

Blind buy but pretty sure I'll love it, seems to have everything I like anyway haha and even if I hate it, it's a nice OOP for collection, or can sell for profit lol

Ouch, why not just buy the UK version? From the review here it appears to be a superior release.

Yeah, this is a tricky area. Our enthusiasm is entirely warranted but after a certain point all the breathless gushing can be counterproductive.

I kind of feel bad for people watching something like Blade Runner or The Godfather for the first time. No matter how much they love it a part of their brain has to be thinking 'really? that's it?'.

Please tell me there's a decimal point missing from your post.

I'm so happy right now . It's been on my wishlist forever

I agree with whoever said it's depressing. It such a terrifying scenario, and the movie did a great job making it feel real and intense. .

I've always wanted the Criterion release, I love the packaging, not sure if it has better special features, but also the OOP fracture appeals to me lol, I like having a nice special release in my collection that I can treasure ^^

I don't think £116 is too bad, saw it for £180 at one point lol

I mean, to each his own and all. But spending over $200 on a blu ray for a movie that you've never even seen just seems insane to me. Especially when there is a comparable (and perhaps even superior) release out there you can get for like $15.
