Twilight time has announced my favorite Elvis movie : "FOLLOW THAT DREAM (1962) BLU-RAY - Aug 12th". It won't be cheap, but I'm in!

Default Excellent poem about elvis

Go to the Photobucket page of PHOTONPRINCE for a poem, "The Story of Elvis."
It tells the story of the Colonel and Elvis.

Default King Blu-ole

Yeah, I'm waiting on King Creole. Hadn't seen any Elvis movies so I rented it a couple years ago; liked it so much I added it to the database.

It's my favorite Elvis movie and I think has the best music. It came out fairly early on DVD so it's disappointing that we haven't seen it on Blu-ray yet.

I own love me tender on blu ray. It has 2 HD audio tracks a 1.0 and a 5.1. I'm guessing the 1.0 is the original theater audio and the 5.1 is the new audio mix.

I'm so glad I waited to buy these I will be getting these as me and mom are elvis fans. Just wondering are these the only 2 Elvis digibooks? Or will more movies and concerts of Elvis be getting a digibook release?

I finally broke down about bought That's the Way It Is on DVD just a couple of months ago. So you can probably thank me for the Blu-ray release.

I wonder, too, but have heard nothing about any others.

Well, there doesn't seem to be a thread for Elvis: That’s the Way It Is, but it's back down to $19.59. I'm still waiting, wondering how low it'll go (I've got both DVDs, although I assume that this'll be much better.

I just watched the wonderful digibook presentation of That's The Way It Is (1970) over the course of the last two nights.

It is one of the greatest "pop music documentaries" out there and really exudes a timeless sense of Elvis' humble nature, his loyalty to his fans and backing back, and most of all his amazing voice and performance talents. This film is just one snapshot of why he was the artist of the century and why he means so much to so many people.

The only curious thing is that I noticed most reviews favor the newer 2001 edition that removes the Elvis fan segments and adds unused rehearsal footage to make the film feel more of an uninterrupted "fly on the wall" experience. While I enjoy the added footage, I favored the original theatrical version:

1. It's longer.

2. I think the fan segments add an essential piece of the Elvis story. I suppose the reasons they were edited out of the 2001 edition was that many found them distracting relative to the rehearsal footage of Elvis and the band. Yet I think these original fan snippets really highlight how affecting Elvis was on those who adored him (especially the clips from the female fans, naturally). To remove them kind of takes away a part of the film's "timepiece quality". Like most films, it's usually wise to stick to the original (in my opinion).

3. The 2001 edition cuts "I Just Can't Help Believin" from the show footage! It might be the definitive song of the whole film / soundtrack! While the 2001 edition still features a worthy concert segment with other additions, I prefer the set list of the 1970 movie.

What about you? If you're a fan of this film do you prefer the original or modern cut?

The "fan" segments are hyper annoying, especially once you've seen them - once (if at all). However, having both versions on BD would've been way better.

For some reason, it's been a while, I kept my old flipper DVD in a disc envelope and slipped it in the DigiBook. Might've been for extras, but, if memory serves (and it rarely does ), the quality (image and/or sound) was actually better on the older DVD. The DigiBook DVD is weak, disappointing stuff.
