The Thrawn Trilogy is pretty good.

As is the expansion of Han's & Leia's relationship with them having kids an' all.

I like Thrawn trilogy and I can accept the EU, we'll get to enjoy them as usual. But I want the movies to have their own original stories, why would you want something you already know?

Anyway, there has been many reports of Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford being seen in London the last couple of days.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Mark Hammil will be the best actor of he original bunch? Im afraid that Ford and Fisher will just be parodying shadows of their former characters.

No. Ford had clearly gotten a little too big for his vest and just phoned in his scenes in Jedi but I would seriously shocked if he didn't go all out with whatever role he might have here. I'm sure Carrie Fisher will be fine too.

And let's be honest, it's not like these are particularly demanding roles that require subtle, nuanced performances. A big part of the OT's magic was that everybody took it seriously without taking it too seriously.

Edit: that said, Hammil could very well shine. He's turned out to have a surprisingly deft hand with this kind of material.

I know it would be a long shot but I would love to see Hamill get an oscar nomination like Alec Guinness in Star Wars (77).

I do like a clean slate, but there are good ideas in the EU and I don't believe they will let them go to waste. I very much believe they will use the good EU ideas as inspiration to forge their own path.

And whether the EU is canon isn't all that relevant to me. A good story will remain a good story whether it is canon or not.

Hamill looks good. Peter Serafinowicz voiced Darth Maul in Episode I.

It's official -- LucasFilm will ignore the pre-existing EU for future SW films.

Whether from books, video games, etc, this was Disney's intent all along and their way of not crediting / paying anyone associated with the Star Wars Universe in all of recent memory. Lucas paved the way, and now it's all under Disney's control.

Long Live the Star Wars Trilogy (Original)

Damn, Hamill looks great! He got in excellent shape! Good on you, man. I can't wait to see him as Luke again. Only one more week until an official announcement, we hope!

The only quality story from the EU is the Thrawn series - that would've made a cool movie.

There are many good stories from the EU. Personally, my favorite was Shadows of the Empire.

Damn, Mark Hamill looks great! That alone just RE-ignited my interest in this film. Hopefully Carrie took this as serious as Mark! Harrison has always looked great.

I hope he doesn't have to film for a while or that beard is going to be the first cgi effect they need to do!

He's not exactly dead yet, and I imagine that as time progresses, the beard will get big enough that Abrams would like it a certain way....also, would you think there would be principle filming that pertains to a "younger Luke" that's starting to grow the beard?
