I still want to get this but the challenge gripes keep putting me off. I had no issue with the original 3 but to correct my earlier statement, I despised the rocket barrel stages in the Wii game.

Looks like Nintendo are taking another blow at UK retail.

Tesco looks to discontinuing Nintendo Software and hardware in stores with less than 35 Mods. Which is a majority of stores, since most are less than 35 mods in size.

The space is being used to introduce dedicated PS4 and Xbox One Charts. It's a shame though, because 3DS was doing pretty well but it's been dragged down by the Wii U's poor performance.

I'll know more next week, but it doesn't look good.

Has anybody bought an NES game from the WiiU Virtual Console and noticed the volume is incredibly low? The 2 SNES games don't thump by any means but they're not nearly as bad as the NES game I have.

It's not an isle, but the individual sections that make up an isle.

Some places call them bays, there's lot's of names depending on what company you work for.

In ours 1 mod is usually 1.3m long and about 6 1/2 feet tall. So 1 mod would have 7 shelves each 1.3m wide and that would contain the Nintendo chart games. Next to that another mod with PS3 chart then xbox chart etc.

In our store we have 24 mods, 12 on one side f the isle 12 on the other.

If you take in to account we have about 900+ stores in the UK and only around 74 of those actuall carry the full 35 mod range, they've lost a big chunck sales potential.

Thanks for clarifying that.

24 seems legit size compared to NA's EB Games or GameStop's in Canada.

Picked up Donkey Kong from Amazon for $40 yesterday. Enjoying it so far but a couple of niggles.

Why is run the same button as roll? I can't tell you how many times I wanted to press the button to get a running start and instead I rolled into a hole.

Audio is low. I have my system hooked up straight to an HTCT 350 soundbar which works fine with my Oppo and PS3 at the same volume. Must be something with the WiiU because my NES virtual console games are ridiculously low as well.

The animation lag. The physics kind of make him feel like he slips on the ground and has a slight delay when turning or jumping.

Why can't you just hold down A to continuously do Cranky's pogo jump? It should have been set up like Duck Tails. Having to press it every time has led to a couple of hits.

Also, is there any way to swap characters or are the other characters simply "abilities" for DK? I remember in the original three you could actually swap control between the two and I found myself usually using Diddy because his control was more responsive.

Never played DK on the Wii, but played all the previous ones.

The roll and ground-pound being same button stinks. I used the + when I played it for better stopping control. I used the Pro controller instead of the gamepad too.

Cranky is just broken IMHO. Unless I had to use him, he was just 2 extra hearts for DK's health bar. LOL

The 'teaching you moves' pops up in a few first stages, but besides the short manual, you are lost when Rambi appears for the first time. Oh I need to run fast, and jump, but he does his burst thingy. Oh, I'm in a pit. I must've died 30 times trying to get through the collapsing stage early-on with him.

As an FYI, you will get to some stagee where you will want to destroy things due to frustration/etc.. I only played 2 levels a day in World 5 and 6.

So we get Smash Bros. on the 3DS this summer and Wii U this winter. I can't wait to get my hands on both. Been playing these games since the beginning, I even remember the N64 commercial. My body is ready.

the titles we know about

Shin Megami X Fire Emblem
X
Bayonetta 2
Hyrule Warriors
Yarn Yoshi
Sonic Boom,

E3 will prob be updates on the above with at least 1 or more being delayed till early 2015
.

E3 might show a Tech demo for what they being doing with Zelda, but I dont expect to see Zelda till xmas 15 at the earliest.

it also being said they being working on new Mario 3D title, possible Galaxy 3 or proper mario 64 follow up.

reported that Retro studios have being working on the next title since last year sometime. ( I got the feeling that DKC TF could have shipped last Nov, but they need a title for early this year and didnt want to compete with Mario 3D world)

I sure they have other projects in the works that they yet to announce.
but as its stands today after MK8 there nothing till after the summer.

as far as Nintendo only titles are concerned.

I really can't deal with the control in DKTF anymore. I got to the first Rambi stage last night and it was so apparent. It's delayed or something and I can't stand it.

josuv22, are any of those games actually coming out between MK8 and Smash or are they all still TBA?

I doubt that we will see X in the NA or EU markets this year.

Same with Shin Megami X Fire Emblem.

Looks Like Nintendo will be doing a similar approach to E3 this year.

Quote:
Here's the official word from Nintendo itself on what it has in store for this year's E3:
Super Smash Bros. Invitational
2014 will see the arrival of not one, but two new Super Smash Bros. games: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. To commemorate this occasion, Nintendo is inviting 16 highly skilled Super Smash Bros. players to the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles to compete in a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament. Thousands of fans in the audience and countless more watching a live stream online will see new Super Smash Bros. characters clash with existing favorites in action for the first time. More important than declaring a winner, however, this event is a celebration of all things Super Smash Bros., and a great way for new and veteran fans to take part in a tribute to this legendary franchise. More information about the 16 invited participants in the tournament, the identity of the announcers, and how fans of the franchise can view the tournament in person and via webcast, will be communicated shortly.
Nintendo Digital Event
Every year, Nintendo looks for the best way to show its games and share its news with fans, media and other key audiences. In 2013, Nintendo decided to forgo a traditional press conference and use a video – in that case a Nintendo Direct – to share its news from E3. The company is building on that approach at E3 2014 with the “Nintendo Digital Event,” a new kind of video program that will reveal and provide further detail about the gaming experiences on the way for Nintendo platforms in 2014 and beyond. The Nintendo Digital Event will air at 9 a.m. PT on Tuesday, June 10.
Nintendo Treehouse: Live @ E3
This year, Nintendo will offer fans a deeper look at Nintendo’s biggest games of E3, with information directly from the source. The “Treehouse,” the Product Development department at Nintendo of America, will provide in-depth game demos live and unscripted from Nintendo’s booth. This new program will be live streamed during all hours of the E3 show. Fans can get settled in, open their browsers and experience the Nintendo games at E3 like never before.
Super Smash Bros. Smash Fest @ Best Buy
In 2013, Nintendo broke new ground by expanding its E3 activities outside of the walls of the Los Angeles Convention Center and letting fans play some of the games being played on the show floor at participating Best Buy stores. The partnership between Nintendo and Best Buy continues in 2014 and will mark the first time around the world that fans have had the opportunity to get their hands on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
seems to be too focused on Smash, makes you wander if they have anything else to release this year.

Nintendo has a Youtube video up today on it. Sounds like they will be showing off their new studio games via the direct.

I think the tourney would've been better if it was the new Mario Kart.
