If they only briefly show each actor in costume and have a brief shot of the Millennium Falcon, there will be fainting.

[QUO TE=Jumpman;9125013]It's not a boycott. I'm not telling others not to see it.

I just can't. Diehard Star Wars fan of the films since I was 3. I should be through the roof about this news. I just love the Saga as presently constructed. It's complete, to me.

That's the only way I can say it.[/QUOTE]

You'll see it. There always was some negetive nancy acting all uppity when the prequels came out, saying they weren't going to see it, but they always did

He says that if he hadn't of gone into the Prequels at that point, after his kids had grown up and no longer required his undivided attention, he wouldn't have done them at all, because of the time it takes to complete something of such breadth and depth. I deeply respect the man because more than anything, he's very humble, easy-going and really hasn't changed that much in the last 30 years. Same clothes, same beard, same attention paid to his friends and family over everything else in his life. I'm glad he was able to contribute as much as he could, which I imagine was quite a lot, to this new trilogy and I wish him the best, whether that be living a quiet life with his family and/or creating smaller more diverse pictures the way he wants them.
Very well said.

I am also taking into account the abrupt stop of the Clone Wars tv series by Disney to be replaced by Rebels (and other smaller decisions like going back to analog filming after Lucas had pioneered digital filming with Episodes 2 and 3).

It didn't for me . In terms of the overall arc of the waning Republic giving way to the Empire it was important to see the foundation of this, as the first step of the eventual Clone Wars which in turn would give Palpatine the emergency powers and trust needed to eliminate the Jedi Order. It is also important for Padme's arc in Episode 1.

I don't think so much glee has been shown in my office at work than when I just looked at that photo of the cast.

Is it Christmas 2015 yet?

Well, I can't blame them for doing that because it was a WB thing. It was on CW, WB was releasing it, etc. So they ended it to bring it in house. It's not like they ended the series and they decided it wasn't canon, because they've said it all very much happened. Even better, they did let the series finish on Netflix, at least mostly. So it's not like they ended it and didn't give the final episodes a chance to air. And it's Abrams' choice to shoot on film, not Disney, and it's not a bad thing. He wants to try and emulate the feel of the OT, and that's his choice as a filmmaker. In my opinion, that's a good move. There's plenty of other filmmakers who use digital well, it shouldn't be forced on a filmmaker if they don't want it. Again, all my opinion, but I don't see it as the big bad mouse taking over at all. I don't see any impending doom coming from this, because again as I said, they've left Marvel to their own devices and it's been fine. They only stick their hands in if things start to get messy.

The trade dispute could have been mentioned in a single sentence without so much screen time being dedicated to it. JMO.

I wasn't expecting Max Von Sydow or Andy Serkis.

I bet Von Sydow will make a great Sith.

People need to stop with the impending doom stuff, Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams will have full control over this to do it how they see fit. Disney is just going to sit back and watch the cash flow come in. they don't need to advertise this, they don't even need to promote this as word of mouth will sell this film form them. The second a trailer hits the word of mouth will spread like wildfire.

Its like everyone that gave Lucas shit over the SE and Prequels, the films are fine as is, he made changes his right his films. I am sure the UOT will get a release at some point now whether it be a join venture with Fox or Disney waits until 2020 to remaster and release them. Films still exist and can be watched, they may not be the quality you want but they do exist.

Just sit back and enjoy the ride I am sure this is going to be a good one.

I wonder if Serkis playing a digitally animated character. That seems to be his specialty.

I'm also really excited to see what Andy Serkis is doing for this. Although he is arguably the best motion-capture actor working, I hope his role here is not mo-cap. I wouldn't mind seeing him in some fantastic make-up, perhaps as a bounty hunter or something to that extent. But whatever he's doing, I'm sure it will be fantastic.

While there may be some truth to that in the case of Marquand (where George was on set during most of the production, shadowing Marquand all the way) it's definitely not the case with Kershner, who was mostly left to get on with the job at hand.

I'm almost certain Serkis will be playing something digital.

I'm pretty upset about no Billy Dee Williams though.

Yeah, JJ shoots on film, but I wouldn't start getting all misty-eyed about it (not saying you are BTW) 'cause when his movies have had all the CG piled on and gone through the DI, they're about as film-like as a bucket of ones and zeroes. STID in particular looked very processed and digital, for want of a better word. JJ tends to shoot his pickups on Red too, so this being a Star Wars film it'll have a ton of those, natch.

It really seems extra laborious to shoot a film like this on film, since it costs more and takes longer to convert, especially in something like this where I'm sure practically every shot will have some digital addition to it. The film production line is becoming a thing of the past. This is the main reason Lucas shot II and III on digital, because it made the post production process much more streamlined and cheaper.

I'm still amazed that Lucas shot both Episodes II and III for 100 million each. Staggering to think about in this day and age.
